Here is a mix I have done with my funk soul brother Bruno aka Bombyce!

The first hour and a bit is Bombyce and then the last hour is me, hope you like it!

Funk Soul Brothers Part 1

I've been absorbed in music since the early 80's listening to electro, soul, Chicago house etc. Discovered funk and disco in the early 90's when away at Uni and have spent the past 20 + years buying back into this amazing music genre. Don't get the time to play out much nowadays but I have DJ'ed at Funkademia in Manchester a few times over the past year or two which is always a top night and great place to play! The older I get the more I seem to appreciate not only the music I have collected, but all of the hidden gems I am discovering through edits posted on either Soundcloud or new releases from one of the many talented producers/ editors currently in the Disco Scene. Big fan of labels such as Disco Deviance, Editorial, Midnight Riot, Editors Kutz, Razor N Tape, Whiskey Disco, Chopshop, Hot Digits etc. In my mixes I try to blend the records as subtly as possible and be respectful to what has already been created.  



Smokin' disco twelvez, aka Hu-J, has been DJing and collecting records for long enough to have acquired a sophisticated taste for smooth, funked up grooves. When he was 6 he could do the funky chicken, and by the age of 10 his skills at the roller disco were so impressive he was getting through the door at Studio 54.

Hu-J's first proper DJing experience was nothing more than a surefire way of infiltrating the college party scene whilst 'studying' on exchange in the US in 2004. Coming back to Oz in late 2005, and armed with a discerning vinyl collection, Hu-J has been DJing around various bars and clubs in Sydney. With sounds ranging from original 70's soul/funk/disco - house - party jam/mashups - old school hip-hop, Hu-J has played at a variety of venues over the years, including Peppermint Lounge, the Bourbon, De Nom Lounge, Favela, Opera Bar, Bungalow 8 and the Loft, and the Eastern Hotel, just to name a few. In addition to this, he has performed at Opera Bar NYE for 3 consecutive years, 2007, 2008 & 2009.

Be sure to keep an eye on your feet and hips when you see Hu-J behind the decks as they will often be the first to respond to his funky and eclectic sounds.......
