The Syrian army entered the Syrian city of Sweida earlier this week amid sectarian fighting between Druze and Bedouins, which reportedly began after Bedouin gunmen assaulted a Druze vegetable vendor on Sunday. Witnesses reported that the government forces joined with the Bedouin in attacking Druze fighters and civilians. More than 300 were killed.

Israeli authorities on Thursday morning confirmed that the remains recovered from the Gaza Strip the previous evening belong to murdered Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak, whose body had been held captive in Gaza since the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre.

The Israel Defense Forces recently recovered video footage showing six hostages, who were later murdered in Hamas captivity in the Gaza Strip, lighting candles for Chanukah during the winter of 2023, Ynet reported on Thursday.

On December 14, two Islamic gunmen attacked a Hanukkah festival at Bondi beach in Sydney, Australia. Two armed assailants opened fire during a large “Chanukah by the Sea” celebration marking the first night of Hanukkah, killing at least 16 people and wounding 40, including two police officers, according to local authorities.

Quiet before the storm?

What happens underground may not be visible to cameras above. But the truth, sooner or later, surfaces. With this sentence an editorial of the Jerusalem post closed this week. It sounded almost prophetic. The bible speaks about truth, one of the leading verses is John 8:32 where Jesus addressed his followers who believed he was the Messiah and said: and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.’

In Time, the Truth Outlives the Lie

There is no doubt that we are witnessing the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. It is surely no coincidence that next week, the Jewish people will celebrate Purim, the festival recorded in the Book Esther recalling the victory of the Jewish people over the attempts in Persia to annihilate the Jews. The revolutionary regime in Tehran continues to threaten to annihilate Israel and the United States – the two nations in the world that defend the right of the Jewish people to live in the land, and represent respect for the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Wars and rumors of war

As Christians, we have the privilege and ability to “discern the signs of the times”. One of these signs is, perhaps, the growing role of political Islam in turning nations against Israel and the West. This is not to advocate war. It is simply to recognize the reality of what is happening, and what is at stake.
