"The Situation in Gaza"

Israel allowed aid to come back in, managed by the Israel- and US-backed-Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. This week, several mainstream news outlets announced that Israel had fired into crowds in Gaza, killing many. Later, it has become clear that this was a false report.

Weekly Update 6 June 2025 - "The Situation in Gaza"

On December 14, two Islamic gunmen attacked a Hanukkah festival at Bondi beach in Sydney, Australia. Two armed assailants opened fire during a large “Chanukah by the Sea” celebration marking the first night of Hanukkah, killing at least 16 people and wounding 40, including two police officers, according to local authorities.

The revolutionary regime in Iran is on the verge of collapse. The US is willing to start negotiations. In Gaza, Hamas continues to refuse to give up its weapons, while progress on the “peace plan” stalls. Is this the quiet before the storm?

Quiet before the storm?

What happens underground may not be visible to cameras above. But the truth, sooner or later, surfaces. With this sentence an editorial of the Jerusalem post closed this week. It sounded almost prophetic. The bible speaks about truth, one of the leading verses is John 8:32 where Jesus addressed his followers who believed he was the Messiah and said: and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.’

In Time, the Truth Outlives the Lie

There is no doubt that we are witnessing the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. It is surely no coincidence that next week, the Jewish people will celebrate Purim, the festival recorded in the Book Esther recalling the victory of the Jewish people over the attempts in Persia to annihilate the Jews. The revolutionary regime in Tehran continues to threaten to annihilate Israel and the United States – the two nations in the world that defend the right of the Jewish people to live in the land, and represent respect for the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Jesus said these are one of the signs of the times preceding His return. Of course, there have always been wars. But as events unfold in the Middle East, and beyond, we must always seek to understand the times we are living in.

Wars and rumors of war

As Christians, we have the privilege and ability to “discern the signs of the times”. One of these signs is, perhaps, the growing role of political Islam in turning nations against Israel and the West. This is not to advocate war. It is simply to recognize the reality of what is happening, and what is at stake.
