Story of the Song:

This melody was composed by Marni Loffman while listening to Kohenet Keshira HaLev Fife offer words of Torah during a Zoom Kabbalat Shabbat service in September 2020. Marni began humming this melody on mute while K' Keshira spoke to the importance of connecting to abundant love, especially in the midst of racial violence and injustice. This prayer helps us access the love that the divine, universe, spirit, shechinah, ultimate, G-d or whatever greater force you believe has to give. We are wrapped in love, surrounded by it. Sometimes we just need words and melody to allow ourselves to feel all the compassion that holds us and grounds us in each moment.

This song was born on Wintu Pom (Northern Wintu) & Nom Sus Wintu land (trinity alps // swift creek // mumford meadows). I was preparing for a four-day earth-communion time of solitude & fasting. I laid down at the place where two rivulets came together, watching a spider weave between blades of grass, feeling in myself this question: 

"Toward where is the Golden Thread tugging me now? What is my heart asking for? What do I KNOW?"

This song is for you.This is for all of you who are suffering from being judged with unfair standards of the public eye. Remember to stay strong and remember to keep the love in your hearts. To squash the hate with love and remember that you're not alone because all of us who put ourselves out there today often end up getting scrutinized for our craft, thoughts, and looks. 

I wrote recorded and played this song all in this past hour for this exact reason, to combat the hate. It is flawed, raw, live and I created the entire thing just for you. I want you to know that you're not alone. We all are here, and we're all in this together.

The only way to compat the hate in this world is through LOVE. So love each other and try to give each other grace even when there's bad behavior involved.

Batya heard it from Sarah while they sat in the red tent during Passover in the Desert with Wilderness Torah.  The version recorded here is Batya's crafting.
