Mao Molano has been a key figure in the evolution of electronic music in Colombia. In the early 1990s, his passion for audio and lighting technology led him to produce and participate in some of the country’s most iconic raves, becoming a pioneer of a scene that was just beginning to awaken.
His style—an immersive fusion of house, tech-house, and techno—is defined by a sonic narrative full of contrast, energy, and depth. For decades, he has held residencies at Colombia’s most influential clubs, building a career marked by innovation and authenticity.

🎼 Music Production
Mao began producing in 1999, and by 2003 had released tracks like Duel with Marco Lenzi (Molecular Recordings) and Override for Nils Hess (Eukatech – Eukahouse Records).
In 2004, after winning the FOUND@THIRST Selection sponsored by Heineken, he signed with London-based Eukatech Records, releasing the single Positive and contributing a remix of Nils Hess to the compilation Collaborations 2.
In 2006, he released his first album Funky Roots, a collection of over 10 tracks including original productions and remixes of European artists.
Following his U.S. tour in 2008, Bedroom Musik released Unreleased EP, featuring material from 2003 to 2006, followed by January’s Touch in 2009, which included fan favorites from Funky Roots.

📻 Radio & Recent Work
In 2014, Mao was invited as resident DJ and commentator for ElectroBlu on Blu Radio 96.9 FM, where he shared his insights on the evolution of electronic sound.
After an intensive studio period, he returned to live performances with renewed energy in the United States.
Between 2022 and 2023, he was resident DJ at Crudos Arthouse in Coral Gables, a cutting-edge venue where he fused art, gastronomy, and electronic music.
In 2024, his residency at Spanglish Wynwood – Restaurant & Cocktail Bar established him as a sonic curator in one of Miami’s most vibrant cultural hubs, bringing his sound to new international audiences.
Currently, Mao continues to work on new productions from his studio in Florida, with releases scheduled for summer 2026 that promise to explore new dimensions of contemporary techno and house.

Record label Established in 1995. The Shop was in Covent Garden London Endell Street. Jeff Mills played in the basement. The home of some very big artists.
