This mini-concept album is based on a cyborg visiting from 2050 to warn the human race of impending doom.
Each track follows an apocalyptic narrative and explores the psychedelic genres.
This was part of my final major project for uni. FT Tabz, artwork by Jack Field, mastering by Simon Duggal.

2. Heads In The Sand

My set from Dua Anahata - a weekend that felt like a proper exhale. This set was part of a joint 40th celebration (quiet cheers to that) and a chance to play a bit differently. It's more of a party mix - not my usual flavour, but I wanted to lean into the fun, throw in some classics, and keep people moving.

Big love to everyone who came through - from Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne, Cowra and all the places in between. And massive thanks to everyone who helped shape the weekend: sound, lighting, food, infrastructure, energy - all of it. You know who you are.

Dua Anahata Set - 23 May 2025

NuroCosmic is the drum and bass project from Ben Penfold, the producer behind psytrance act Nuronix and the driving force behind Vision Entertainment, a key player in Ngunnawal's (Canberra AU) electronic music scene. With over a decade of experience, Ben has released on labels such as UP Records Australia and Highly Evolved Music, with standout tracks including Operator Error, Medicinal Trip, and Our Purpose showcasing his meticulous production and immersive sound design.

As a performer, Ben has taken the stage at a diverse array of events, from intimate forest gatherings to large-scale festivals. He has delivered energetic sets at Zenith Gathering, Dragon Dreaming Festival, Steps of Freedom, and Illogical 4.5. Through Vision Entertainment, he has also curated and performed at Vision Music Festival, and has been consistently bringing both local and international acts such as Opiuo, The Sponges, ShockOne, Tilda, Aphrodite and LO'99 to audiences while shaping the city's vibrant electronic music culture.

With NuroCosmic, Ben channels this wealth of experience into drum and bass, exploring deep rollers, neuro-influenced breaks, and cosmic soundscapes. My second live set titled "MELT" is a 1 hour 150 Bass and 174 DNB mix. Pieced together over the course of a relentless week of sleepless nights spent selecting, mixing and producing, MELT features one of my original (unreleased) tracks amongst a firestorm of several to many other absolute bangers.

MELT has two halves, the first half hour being focused towards 150bpm Bass, it's thick, gritty, organic and a touch sexy. Featuring some heavy-dark and some light-upbeat moments, MELT is well suited for bass heads, forest wooks, Fae and flow arts performers alike.

The second half hour pushes the bpm up a notch, fusing a clean blend of orchestral, cerebral DNB with some superfat dancefloor heavy hitters. Half-time wubby botanica weaves throughout the hard and fast highlights feat. THE DRAMA. It's heavy, cinematic, dark, and explores beauty and danger as one.

Huge shoutout to Roadi and Hidden Records, the Smoko Pizza team, all crew, artists, performers and friends who each put in incredible efforts to deliver a such a high quality event in a WILDLY short timeframe, you're all the fkn best.

So grateful to have closed The Atrium Stage on the Friday night for Earth Frequency's 20th Anniversary. 

I have played at this festival 3 years in a row, and can say this is my best set to date. I have created a journey set which complies some of my favorite blends of the year and have included some original and remixes of my own.  I'm excited to say I'm taking the next step from DJ to Artist.

Live @ Earth Frequency Festival 2025 Atrium Friday Closing Set

Higher Ground has always been more than a dancefloor. It's been a gathering place, a spark in the dark, a pocket of freedom that's guided us ever since the world opened back up. On that open-air stage, so many local artists found themselves - testing ideas, building courage, discovering their people, and shaping their sound and confidence. It's been a place where creativity could roam wild and honest, where the Newcastle scene could grow roots and stretch its branches. 

The Newcastle bass community is something rare - tightly woven, collaborative, and full of genuine care. We at Newy Bass Crew have so much love for our brothers and sisters at Higher Ground. The kinship in this scene runs deep. 

Deep love to Jess - your vision, care, and years of wisdom shaped something truly special. You created a space that felt free and intentional. And to Mitch - thank you for delivering the sound and energy that made everything breathe and move the way it did. That rig is the backbone of countless memories. 

It's bittersweet to see Higher Ground take its final bow, but the gratitude outweighs the sadness. It brought the open-air doof spirit to Newcastle in a way that was accessible, welcoming, and real. It lifted artists, connected communities, and opened doors many of us didn't even know were there. 

If something this loved has to end, ending on a high is the most beautiful way to go.
Endless love to everyone who shaped the HG world. 

KreliaS and Dread Maiden carried the Newy Bass Crew flag on Saturday night and it was an honour for them to be part of the final show. Higher Ground was where both of them played some of their first Newcastle sets, so returning for the last dance was deeply full-circle. This set is a small tribute to the space that helped shape them, and a love letter to everything Higher Ground has been. ❤️
