Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (1830-1886) was an American poet whose famous works include "Hope is the Thing With Feathers," "I'm Nobody!," and "Success is Counted Sweetest," to name a few. She left a remarkable influence on American literature for her distinct, unconventional and bold style of writing.

One of his most famous works, a villanelle titled "Do not go gentle into that good night," was written in 1947 and first published in a journal in 1951.
