Navardo Graham, better
known as Tydal Kamau, is a Jamaican reggae artist. His musical
influences derived greatly from reggae icons, Buju Banton, Sizzla
Kalonji, reggae legends Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. With such rooted
inspirations, his obsession for music began to unfold and triggered his
natural ability to put words and melodies together. Tydal penned and
delivered his first song at age ten to an audience of his peers who
were intrigued by his natural talent.
Two years after Port Antonio Comprehensive High School, Tydal
migrated to Kingston searching for exposure. He mingled with top
musicians and eventually found the central ingredients to master his
craft. He recorded several demos, but did not generate the attention
desired until 2010, he teamed up with brother Fabian Graham aka
Fabigeez and friend Ricardo ‘RedBoom’ Reid to produce a single
entitled Ball-Ground.
Through heavy rotation on major radio stations throughout the island,
the single opened many doors and attracted the attention of some key
players in the music industry. Tydal became a force to be reckoned
with and was dubbed one of the unprecedented new talent of Reggae
when he followed up with a track titled Tell Dem Fi Farm on the
Focus Riddim on Vikings Production Label. The beat which also
featured various artistes was voted one the best reggae rhythms of
2012. He collaborated with world renowned artist Gyptian on a track
entitled Give It To Me Baby.
The young lyricist partnered with US based recording label Master
One Production and instantly made his presence felt in North
American Media Houses. Silent Warrior produced by Florida based
record label Train Line Records in 2013, was the song that
highlighted his lyrical capabilities and vocal range. Tydal’s lyrical
contents predominantly represents the voices and plights of the
modern generation. His melodies and dynamic ways of delivery did
not go through the eyes of several promoters. He was consequently
rewarded in 2014 with a six week Promotional Tour of eleven states
in the U.S.A. for his powerful efforts.
The release and distribution by VP Records of Tydal’s debut
compilation Album titled Mission Incomplete quickly added more
fuel to the journey of a young warrior. Mission Incomplete can be
described as solid compilation of Tydal’s strongest songs up to 2014.
It’s unique blend of Reggae/Dancehall music was featured in several
magazines and charts worldwide. Tydal Kamau achieved favourable
responses across Europe on some major reggae festivals such as
Reggae Geel, Reggae Jam, Afro Latino Festival, Reggae Fever, etc
when he promoted the Album in 2015 and 2016.
The pace and maturity of this fast rising talent was spotted by Ghetto
Youths Int’l, a label owned by Stephen and Damian Marley who
produced Babylon Cant’t Get Away. The artist also showcased his
talent on local festivals such as Rebel Salute, Sting, St Mary Mi Come
From and also was also warmly received upon his recent debut in
Latin America where he made stops at Costa Rica. The reggae crooner
is set to release a new CD and is poised to cement his place in the
music industry to serve and inspire.
