Farid Syed a.k.a $miley is a Malaysian-French musician, vocalist and instrumentalist currently based in Kuala Lumpur. The multi-talented producer has honed his skills on instruments like the drums, piano and flute over the years by continuously experimenting with different producers and live musicians which has led him to the present.

Following up on his collaborative project celêtre with fellow musician Greybox from Indonesia, $miley ventures into his first solo release with us through a track that speaks volumes on what we can expect from him in the future. Harmoniously blending the jazzy drums and dreamy piano progressions with euphonious vocals from $miley, we’re pleased to present to you, Truth Be Told. Tune in & enjoy!

Currently celebrating the release of “Vitruvian Man”, his second digital single for Tru Thoughts Recordings, WheelUp pays tribute to both the current scene and the originators of the broken beat sound.

This is a broken beat, West London sound DJ mix I put together, featuring lots of unreleased and exclusive dubplates (special versions of certain broken tracks) from myself and my friends from the scene. I tried to encompass the new sound of Bruk and also give a nod to the generation that came before. I want this sound to be a reflection of my live DJ WheelUP sets and the progressive sounds that I love in contemporary music. Shout out to my Tru Thoughts family and the new leaders of the Bruk school.

The shout outs on the mixtape come from Toddla T the BBC Radio 1 DJ and trendsetter who has a big supporter of my music. Also EVM 128, a good mate who is another of the leaders of the new school / broken beat renaissance (he is part of CoOp present and Selectors Assemble and owner of Dance Regular record label). Also got a shout out from Mark 'G' Force who is one of the original pioneers of the broken beat, he is a founder of Bugz In The Attic and Coop. I also got a shout out from Tiawa who is my label mate on Tru Thoughts and a future star who I have collaborated with on my forthcoming album.
