Tahuna Breaks have always encompassed a rich diversity of musical genres and styles.

With six members, the group’s live act is energetic, raw and large. It combines aspects of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and is influenced by artists as varied as James Brown to Daft Punk. The band are well known for mixing genres and have honed their sound on the live stage that encompasses funk, disco, soul, live electronics and roots.

Since inception over six years ago, the band have gained momentum, focusing more and more on addictive rhythms that get audiences moving. They have an appetite for continuously progressing and pushing boundaries in their live performance, and audiences have already begun taking note of the band’s shift towards a sound that is bigger, darker and heavier.

Regulars at major events, the band have performed at The Big Day Out, Homegrown, Highlife NYE, Rhythm & Vines and many other major festivals across both New Zealand and Australia, along with countless tours and sold out performances.

In 2007 they released their debut album Reflections which was followed closely by their highly anticipated second album Black Brown & White in 2009. Both records charted strongly, won awards and have firmly cemented Tahuna Breaks’ place on the New Zealand and Australasian music scenes.

Tahuna Breaks have entered the new decade with a fresh focus and a new challenge. March 2013 saw the Auckland-based group release their third major release ‘Shadow Light’ under the guidance of UK producers ‘Crazy P’. Featuring original and remixed tracks, this album reflects the band’s progression and focus toward the more dance-orientated funk sound that they’ve been so well renown for.

Singles ‘Moves‘,  ’Smooth‘, and ‘Fearless‘ and 'Stars' have all received considerable airplay and have been regulars on the weekly George FM Top 5 chart. 

2014 has seen the band busy in the studio writing and recording new material with the first single ready to drop in May. Stay tuned...

Jëkoff Sedofski performs honestly on stage. Each of their songs is inhabited by a different world, where different physics laws prevail.

The powerful and vibrating compositions include visual elements and restless optimistic music with influences from post-punk art movement, such as Joy Division and Sonic Youth.

What began as a musical experiment develops into the story of Jëkoff Sedofski, that story that allows itself to be told through the relentless sounds applied to each musical piece.

In late 2011 Gerardo (MX) and Mauricio (PE) started to play chunky rithms with drums and bass accompanied by video mapping projections to enhance the musical enjoyment. Later on, Simone (IT) added the perfect complement to the developing sound with his strident and very remarkable guitar playing.  

The trio started to create songs and pitch a story… the myth of Jëkoff Sedofski.

By the summer of 2012 they recorded their first demo “Mi Mundo ” and started to have live shows in the city of Zürich and surroundings.

The second production named “El Paso” included songs like “Pipas de Marte” and “Rhetorical Question” and was released mid 2015 as they finished recording the EP at their own studio in Zürich.

Two years later in 2017, their first LP Album came out as “Basurolo”, 12 tracks round up this production that contains songs like “Perversa”, “Re” or “Passeggiata en Bicicleta” these titles are used as a perfect way to describe the adventurous life of the man himself “Jëkoff Sedofski” and the encounters with his eternal redheadead love or a one of the kind bike ride through the city.

At the beginning of 2020, just right before the pandemic, they performed as an opening act for the thrilling german band “Pictures” (former Union Youth) at the cult venue in Zürich “Dynamo Werk 21”. 

It took more than 4 years after their last studio recording, to announce a new musical production of these multicultural, multisound, multifaceted trio.

2021 is the year of release of their newest album called “Dado” where the musical evolution of the band is delightfully exposed with 6 fresh tracks. This new production brings us a mix of powerful reefs, ironic lyrics and explosive rhythms.

The headquarters where the magic happens, is located in the city of Zurich and is called "La Cueva" - the cave. From this place they create, produce and record the ideas that emanate from these exhilarating heads, they will also produce the live streaming shows for the presentation of their new singles, it is worthwhile to stick your nose in to see what they are doing >> La Cueva

Salmonella Dub began in 1992 crafting their name from the “bad-taste” dub cover versions of songs they used to break the ice amongst their original tracks in their early sets. In ’90s New Zealand, dub/roots/reggae freak-outs weren’t entirely in vogue — grunge and dance music held sway — so Salmonella Dub would use lighthearted covers of Nancy Sinatra, The Orb’s Little fluffy Clouds, plus Public Enemy and Fred Dagg’s “Larry Loves Barry” to win over skeptical audiences.

In the early ’90s, New Zealand’s liquor licensing laws changed, allowing pubs and clubs to stay open late and revitalizing the country’s live music scene. Members of the band then called Golf Course Alligators seized this opportunity and, in late 1992, Andrew Penman (guitar), Mark Tyler (bass), and Dave Deakins (drums) became Salmonella Dub. In the early days they lacked money for a sampler and used DIY solutions by hooking up an on/off foot pedal to the motor of a cassette player in order to drop samples by foot in real time from tape on stage. These samples would come from whatever was on the TV at the time, whether it was the news or a Cheech & Chong movie. Lacking the funds for cassettes, they raided the bins of a record store and found discarded copies of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles albums that served as their early tape stock.

To prepare for their first, self-titled album in 1994, Peter Wood (trumpet, keyboard) and Conan Wilcox (saxophone, percussion) were invited to join the band. Salmonella Dub was released through the independent label Curious Records. Following quickly from this album the band released Dub Tomfoolery a 7 track EP with mixing contributions from Mike Hodgson of Pitchblack.

Soon afterwards, Wood left the band, moving to Auckland and getting a job to pay his student overdraft. Around this time Penman made contact with David Harrow (ONU sound) through Grant Fell of the Headless Chickens. Harrow was employed to work on their next EP THC Winter the band’s first foray into Jungle and DnB in 1995.
