It’s not everyday that you hear a band like The Gums. Hailing from the ancient city of Lud, The Gums are known up and down the path of the beam for their signature blend of riff skankin swamp punk.

Shortly after the world began to move on, Sam Code (guitar, lead vocals) left behind a life-long career as a tollbooth operator when he found a collection of arcane recordings in an abandon hab unit. The audiodisks awakened within him deep passions of a lost time, and he hasn’t slept regular since. Colin, (bass, backup vocals) journeyman assassin from an Interlocutor sect, turned his back on contract killing after visiting Lud for the first time. Enchanted by the sounds of Lud and its vibrant nightlife, Colin made fast friends with Lud’s people and never thought twice about it. Cameron (drums) arrived on the scene, emerging from a fallen space satellite on the outskirts of town. Remembering only his name and a series of 32 digit binary access codes, Cameron speaks well, and was even town hero for a week or so before joining The Gums.

The Gums drive a hard sound. They shrug in the face of a madness that’s slowly eating Midworld. The Gums set their sights on a simpler time, when Gunslingers walked the amongst us, and people could be people any old time of day. After touring stretches of the beam for years in search of the mythical land of Credence where the water runs clear, they somehow wound up in 21st century Oakland with no money, and that’s where they live today.

Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub-swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, & the relentless energy of brilliant beats - that's NON STOP BHANGRA!

Highlighting the ancestral roots of Punjabi dance while pushing boundaries with contemporary influences, Non Stop Bhangra is a genre-busting elixir of North Indian Bhangra music and dance, mixed with Reggae, Hip-Hop, and Electronica. An ever-evolving collective of dancers, DJs, drummers, vocalists, and musicians, Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party. Featuring dance lessons and performances with Dholrhythms Dance Company, and music by DJ Jimmy Love, the group has won legions of fans with its monthly events in San Francisco.  Dholrhythms Dance Company also promotes the artistic and cultural heritage of India with classes and workshops, providing a unique platform for people of diverse backgrounds to come together and dance in a positive environment. 

Non Stop Bhangra was founded in 2004 when Dholrhythms founders Vicki Virk and Suman Raj teamed up with DJ Jimmy Love with the goal of bringing Bhangra to a wider audience. The first Non Stop Bhangra was hosted to celebrate the one year anniversary of Dholrhythms by providing a dance space for students of Dholrhythms Bhangra classes. Since then, NSB has made this traditional style a serious dance floor craze in San Francisco, drawing the most diverse crowds to join in the frenzy. NSB is a destination, creating sold out nights and write-ups as one of the best dance floor nights in San Francisco.

In addition to the monthly event, the group has performed at some of the largest stages in the West Coast including San Francisco’s renowned Stern Grove Festival, TED XSF at Yerba Buena Center For the Arts, Goldman Environmental Prize Ceremony at War Memorial Opera House, Inaugration Ceremony of Mayor Ed Lee at SF City Hall, Michael Franti’s Power to the Peaceful in Golden Gate Park, New Mexico’s ¡Globalquerque!, Grand Performances in Los Angeles, Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion, and Canada’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and many more.
