Hello and welcome to episode 23. Our guest for today is @Ntogn (Entheogen). 

“An entheogen is a psychoactive substance used in a religious, shamanic, or spiritual context” This is mix is and entheogen for the mind.

-Who you look up to?- 
I look up to creative, independent and forgiving people. Those who let their passions guide their life and shine on those who dare not.

-Why techno?- 
I think it is because of the ritualistic elements in it. It is hard, repetitive and thus also a powerful tool for trance and to me it has become some sort of modern electronic shamanism. It is serious. It speaks and bends the mind.

-What is a good techno party for you?- 
Anarchy.

-How is your playing style?- 
I think my way of performing may rise some controversy among some colleagues as I prepare my sets for days. Sometimes a full week! People keep talking about feeling the vibe and choosing your tracks on the spot (which of course can be good!). But I believe in Creating a vibe and an optimal musical experience. So I choose my tracks with a lot of care and try to make it as pleasant and coherent a journey as possible. I like ranging my sets from deep to hard, dark to light and back and pick up the pace from maybe 100-110 bpm to end it in a ecstatic 135-140 beats per minute. Yin & Yang. This is an amazing experience, for me at least! Hehe. More technically I use Ableton Live for flexibility, controlled with a Ableton Push and a Allen & Heath Xone:K2 MIDI-controller. It takes a lot more preparation, but when you have everything laid out it is great! You can throw in compressors, all sorts of VST's and whatever you want on the fly and prepare loops so you can switch kicks, percussions, FX and do this kind of semi-Live thing. Truly awesome!

-How did you fall in love with the genre?- 
It has grown since I started to DJ about seven years ago. Since then I have been listening to electronic music constantly and my taste has evolved. Today I indulge myself in deep, dark, atmospheric, hypnotic, pshychedelic, ritualistic and intelligent sounding techno. Which will be the foundation of the label I will be launching sometime next year: Hypnus

we are back after traveling and spending some time in mystical India. Our guest for today is BLNDR(@blndr) from France. This week’s episode is a mystical performance by our friend from across the borders. Don’t hesitate to let your mind drift away with the music.

Monument:
How did your interest in techno music come about?

BLNDR:
I started listening to electronic music in 2007 when "Justice" first album "cross" came out . It was a revelation that made my interest in electronic music grow! Then I started listening to larger genre such as techno and house. My interest in techno really came out when I discovered Underground resistance's Nation 2 Nation EP.

M:
Give us a briefing about the labels that you are on (Container and Hypnus records)

B:
Container & Hypnus are two realy different things . Container is a collective that gather techno lovers, producers, graphic designers and party organizers. With that team we are able organize our own techno parties in Paris and it’s suburbs! Hypnus is the label where i will release my first EP really soon! It is a Swedish label that shows an interest in deep hypnotic techno. I am really proud to be part of the Hypnus team. Lots of talents... and a great boss :)

M:
What inspires you musically?

B:
I am really inspired by the Industrial vibe you can find on the techno scene today. Metallic Dark & cold tracks... With also strong inspiration from the Dub, acid, deep & mental techno. But when it comes to DJing i sometimes like to play really hard sest with fast BPM. Classic Rave Acid tracks mixed with recent techno artists such as Truncate, Psyk or Luke Slater.

M: 
Give us your take on the techno scene today

B:
The Techno scene today is really inspiring for me... so many great producers & labels.
I'd say my top five label of the moment are: Mote Evolver, Prologue, Sandwell district, Stroboscopic artefact & Avian.

M:
What is your favorite record of all time?

B:
Quite difficult question... It might be "The Campfire headphase" by Board of Canada...

In an interview with the Quietus in November, Gwyer carefully describes the aesthetic she might be striving for in her own music as wanting to be loud, banging and not what people expect, whilst still meandering between house, techno and hugely experimental noise. There's none of her own productions in her Truancy Volume (from what we can see in the tracklist) but we can't help feel that small description perfectly encapsulates the hour long mix she's recorded for us. There's house and techno but at unexpected tempos ranging from 118BPM to the upper echelons of 144BPM for a substantial duration. It's loud and it bangs from very early on. This is all intricately layered throughout with noise productions from the likes of Acre and Nadia Khan, blending the percussive elements with the beatless with the upmost attention to detail to the overall sound. If there wasn't a tracklist included we'd have been very hard pressed in telling the Acre/Villa Abo section at 35 minutes apart to the point where we may be unable to listen to those tracks singularly ever again. It's this "singular vision" as a whole mix that makes our 120th Truancy Volume one of the most unique listening experiences we've had in our series so far.

Wünsch has been an influential figure in the electronic music scene for over twenty years with an arsenal of unique sonic trademarks produced with high precision. His distinctive energetic and cyclic techno, already featured within his sound palette, and a subliminal Soul component have become his trademark. With 2 Albums and more than 100 releases on various labels such as PoleGroup, Soma records, Infrastructure NY, Semantica, Children of Tomorrow, Token, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Theory, Music Man, etc…including a variety of remixes, he has become a worldwide reference in his field. Proof of his production skills can be seen on his remarkable remix CV, working with the biggest names in techno (Surgeon, Regis, Mike Parker, Reeko…), and most recently artists such Funk D´void and Percy X from Soma records, etc. Wünsch’s hardwork has earned him a position on the line ups of the best clubs and festivals all over the world. With an impeccable career, this international artist has made a name for himself with dark and abstract atmospheric sounds, becoming one of the producers, whose name has appeared all over the world on the labels and charts of other great artists. Christian was one of the founders of Polegroup, and he was also one half of the ´Spherical Coordinates´ with Oscar Mulero. His labels Tsunami Records and Nine are indispensable parts of any respectable record collection.

Revelation of Sound is happy to present the new guest Vladw. Vladw is Vladimir Vinco's techno project. Resident in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he's got influences from hip hop, noise and sound experimenting.
His assorted sounds are fat and hypnotic, nevertheless the main features are the strong productions and dancefloor impact, along with noticeable and aggressive synths and heavy atmospheres, and a constant search for music development.
Vladw has published and collaborated with multiple european records such as Planet Rhythm (Holland), Genesa Records (Serbia), Dynamic Reflection (Netherlands) just to name a few.
His work has also been supported by various renowned producers from the techno scene like Marcel Dettmann, Dvs1, Exium, Marcel Fengler, Ben Sims, Developer, Psyk, Jeroen Search, Samuli Kemppi, among others.

Monument 03 is out, and we are excited to bring you a really great and special mix from Vincent Neumann. Being a resident DJ at the Distillery (East Germany's oldest techno club) and a part wonderful Krill Music label this man knows his stuff. 

Vincent told us he had the idea for this mix a while ago, showcasing that techno isn't dependent on varying tempos to showcase different feelings. ”So basically the tempo is constantly at 130bpm (my favourite tempo in the world) and I tried to show with different tracks and grooves how one tempo can still contain a lot of different feelings and emotions. Also, I had to use a corny Black Metal intro because Norway, you know?“.

Outside the clubbing and techno bubble he just finished a diploma thesis in psychology (Congratulations). If you want to catch Vincent playing check out Distillery, Westwerk, Elipamanoke and Sweat. He will also be back on the legendary Tresor club soon, so keep your eyes open for an epic night of pure beauty when it comes to the sounds of Techno!
