NEW KINGSTON is a progressive reggae group whose members combine their Jamaican heritage with the urban sounds of their New York home, New Kingston are a family band consisting of brothers Tahir, Courtney Jr., and Stephen along with their father, Courtney Panton, Sr. A first-generation Jamaican-American, Courtney the elder was active in New York's reggae scene before turning his sons on to the music of their island heritage. Born out of jam sessions in the family's Brooklyn basement, the brothers began their career playing Bob Marley and Earth, Wind & Fire covers at parties and gatherings around the neighborhood. By 2010, they'd become focused on their own writing, which fused R&B, hip-hop, and dancehall with traditional reggae sounds. With each brother writing and offering vocals, Courtney Sr. filled in on bass. Following their self-released debut, In the Streets, New Kingston went on a European tour with rising reggae star Collie Buddz, playing a number of prominent festivals. Their sophomore LP, 2013's Kingston University, earned them a deal with New York label Easy Star Records, which issued their third LP, Kingston City, in early 2015. Boasting an increased production value and guest spots by the Tribal Seeds, the Wailing Souls, Sister Carol, and Sugar Minott, Kingston City raised the band's visibility considerably, topping Billboard's reggae chart upon its release. An EP, Kingston Fyah, arrived in the summer of 2016.

Homegrown in Denver Colorado, Tatanka is a trio specializing in the sounds of dub, progressive reggae, and electro soundscapes. Heavy Caribbean drum and bass grooves provide the pulse for the party as the music invites you to get down and dirty. This trio of denver dub samurai’s just recently released they re first studio E.P. entitled Sounds in Technicolor. Sounds in Technicolor has reached over 4,000 downloads through Tatanka’s website and social networking sites. The release has been dubbed as drum and bass music for a new generation, a twist on new and old reggae riddim’s and an instant classic. The pulsing basslines provided by Tatanka’s Malonestar seem to rock the mind into trance while Champian’s guitar work and The Mexico’s hi-hat, snare and kick drum 4/4 playing styles pepper over the top of the album’s four track’s almost flawlessly.
Tatanka has shared the stage with many major national and international acts that include but are not limited to: Eoto, Slightly Stoopid, The Motet, Easy Star All-Stars, The Black Seeds, John Brown’s Body, The Expendables, Groundation, Iration, Passafire and more. The Tatanka trio continues to push they’re sound to the next level. Dub rock Syndicate recently gave the boys the title “the up and coming kings of dubtronic.â€ Tatanka has now been touring for over two years and will continue to do so. Hirie--the frontwoman of the exhilarating pop/reggae band HIRIE--grew up a global citizen. Her father worked for the United Nations and she was born in the Philippines, spent years in Italy, before her family settled in Hawaii, which became her spiritual home. 

San Diego’s seven-piece band HIRIE is ready to offer a global spiritual uplift. Melding the balmy island touches of its singer’s beloved home—as symbolized by its moniker’s first letter, a “H” for  “Hawaii,” with that feeling of irie, the award-winning group offers a soundtrack of hope.  Now, with its masterful most recent album, Wandering Soul, brimming with invigorating female-fronted shamanistic reggae an oasis of positivity is just an album away. 

Wandering Soul’s lush construct reflects this depth. The songs feature chord sequences that have a sophisticated, tension and release accessibility. The musicianship is high-level restraint, showcasing that point of mature virtuosity where laying back implies instrumental prowess. He shared with me ‘Your music is the reason I get out of bed, you’re my medicine.’ That drives me to push this movement forward to share conscious music.
