Elliott Butt (b. 1991) is a guitarist, vocalist, and composer from Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador. He is currently living in St. John's, NL finishing his last semester at Memorial University where he has been studying the classical guitar and musical theory to obtain his Bachelors 			degree in Theory and Composition. 

During his time growing up and living in rural Newfoundland, Elliott took part in music both on an academic and community 	level, studying theory and guitar both in 	school and privately, as well as performing 	with groups for charity events around the area and acting as a private guitar teacher for a number of years. In 2009 he was the recipient of the Central Newfoundland Kiwanis Music Festival Rose Bowl award for best solo performance. 

While at Memorial he studied composition under Juno nominated composer Dr. Clarke Winslow Ross and contemporary Canadian composer Dr. Andrew Staniland, and studied guitar under Sylvie Proulx. During his time there he was the recipient of a number of scholarships, including the Early Entrance Scholarship and the Frederick & Isabel Emerson Memorial Scholarship, as well as being a finalist in the 2011 MUN Chamber Music Competition as a member of the MUN Guitar Quartet. He also took part in a series of guitar Workshops with the MUN Guitar Quartet.

Elliott has composed works for a range of instrumentation, including wind band, piano, voice and guitar, but his main passion lies with electronic music and film/video game score. Extra-musical influences, often visual, have a deep impact on his music and compositional approach, which fuel this passion for soundtracks. His mixture of styles from both the western-art music traditions as well as popular music are what makes his works unique. Along with being a composer, Elliott is also an accomplished song writer and has been a member of successful local groups who have won local competitions and have released CDs independently (2010).

He is currently working on building a portfolio through freelance and academic pursuits. Upon graduation this spring Elliott plans to continue to pursue a career as a composer for video games and film.
