Suicide Silence is an American extreme metal band from Riverside, California. The group consists of vocalist Eddie Hermida, guitarists Chris Garza and Mark Heylmun, drummer Alex Lopez and bassist Dan Kenny. Formed in 2002, the closely-knit group of Southern Californian metal heavyweights were course for a well-deserved victory lap of sorts by the Fall of 2012. The group had been together for a decade, having shaped and unquestionably led the “deathcore” subgenre as assuredly as MORBID ANGEL became synonymous with death metal or KORN. The charisma, easygoing charm and visceral performances of frontman Mitch Lucker helped make Suicide Silence a staple attraction at Vans Warped Tour and extreme metal festivals alike. Lucker’s undeniable command bridged the gap between the subcultural adherents of the band’s bludgeoning ferocity and the generation of youth desperate for a supportive community to help them overcome life’s struggles. October 31st, 2012 brought on the darkest day that all involved with Suicide Silence had ever experienced. The world of metal was shocked and saddened when news spread of Mitch Lucker’s tragic passing. The man who popularized the “You Only Live Once” phrase in the heavy music community had left the world behind unexpectedly and much too soon to fathom. An understanding, supportive and loyal audience responded enthusiastically to the October, 2013 announcement that Suicide Silence would officially continue with Eddie Hermida at the helm. The band would carry on in Mitch’s honor.Suicide Silence have declared You Can’t Stop Me as their most impassioned, most committed, and most important release thus far. It’s a record they fought, bled, sweated and even cried to make happen. As Suicide Silence have found new life and empowerment in the compositions boiling within You Can’t Stop Me, so shall their increasingly strong army of supporters, both old and new, who share in that empowerment. 


 


A new breed of dark rockers is subtly taking over, stealing the hearts of a dedicated legion of fans, with a blend of intense melodic metal and a penchant for the macabre. Already fan favorites in the scene, Pennsylvania sextet Motionless In White is set to rise to the front of the pack.

Their debut full-length album Creatures is a writhing behemoth of an album. Mixing gothic and industrial influences with brutal breakdowns, intense riffs and soaring choruses, the album interweaves themes of lust and revenge with the band's passion for horror movies, myths and vampire culture. The band has since been named as one of Metal Hammer's "75 Bands That Will Change The Face Of Metal", Alternative Press' Bands You Need To Know in 2010, and was one of Revolver Magazine's Bands To Watch.The band has made a huge visual impact in 2011 with their provocative videos for "Immaculate Misconception", starring Twisted Sister's Dee Snider, "Creatures" featuring  NY Ink tattoo artist Megan Massacre, and "Abigail" which has has gained over 2 million views. 

The band has already toured the U.S. with the likes of Asking Alexandria, Bleeding Through, In This Moment and Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Black Veil Brides and A Skylit Drive. After completing their tour with Escape the Fate and Alesana in early 2011, the band appeared at SXSW before launching into a full season of touring that included runs with Norma Jean, For Today, Vans Warped Tour and the All Star Tour with Emmure, and Iwrestledabearonce. The band continues their live onslaught into the fall on their first European tour in September/October with blessthefall and Pierce The Veil. 

Armed with their jaw-dropping debut album, support from the media and an impressive live show ready to take to the masses, Motionless In White is poised at the center of a perfect storm, and is taking by the throat in 2011 and on to 2012. Miss them at your peril!

A trusted troubadour for hot summer nights and cold beers, Owen is now in his forties, tangling with separations from lost lovers, raising kids, and growing out of the fresh-faced kid that headed down to Nashville 20 years back with a six-string and a dream.  Case in point: Dreams to Dream, Owen’s long-awaited, Shooter Jennings-co-produced foray into classic, honky-tonk country, out November 7 via Good Company Entertainment. Dreams to Dream, Owen’s first independent studio album, featuring 10 original tracks and two stellar covers, tells the tale of a man at a crossroads — and what it takes to set out a new path. 

Owen wasn’t expecting much when he commented on one of Shooter Jennings’ Instagram posts, half-jokingly suggesting that they make a honky-tonk record, but the producer called his bluff. Two days later, Owen’s manager had Jennings on the line and, soon, Owen was on his way to L.A. and Jennings’ Sunset Sound. It was a cozy yet electric scene: Jennings and Owen cracking jokes in the sepia-toned studio, creativity crackling as they collaborated with the likes of songwriters Ben Chapman and Kendell Marvel, as well as long-time shooter pal, guitarist/harmonic player Leroy Powell. 

“All my friends who have heard my stuff have gone, ‘Dude, Jake, this is you man. This is who you've always tried to be,’” Owen says. “Sometimes you need to get outside what's comfortable, what people think you are, or think you should be, and take a risk.”
