Raised amid the rich musical culture and history of the San Francisco Bay Area,
Monophonics proudly carry the torch through the generations into today’s musical landscape. Holding on to tradition, but by no means purists of any kind, they play their own brand of music known as “Psychedelic Soul.” The 2012 release of Monophonics last album In Your Brain saw the band pulling influences from such acts as early Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone and the The Temptation's Norman Whitfield produced records. With the new album, Sound of Sinning (April 1, 2015 on Transistor Sound Records), the band has grown in all areas of record making and felt a need to explore other important influences.

While the group has come to cherish these inspirations, With Sound of
Sinning they started venturing beyond, to the groups that were inspiring those
soul acts to embrace the psychedelic sound of the 60's and 70's. Bands such as The Zombies, The Beatles, Beach Boys and Pink Floyd. Even with the experimentation of new musical territory, they display the sound that people know and love about Monophonics. Touching on Northern soul, doo-wop, rock and roll, Psych pop, and cinematic music, Monophonics show off their diversity while remaining true to their roots. Overall it's heartfelt music and old school vibes, without losing sight of the present. This is is music steeped in that timeless feeling when people could write and produce songs that you could listen to over and over again. Sound of Sinning was produced by Kelly Finnigan & Ian McDonald and recorded on an old Tascam eight-track 1/4” tape machine at Transistor Sound Studios in San Rafael, CA.

Monophonics is Austin Bohlman (Drums), Myles O’Mahony (Bass/Background
Vocals), Ian McDonald (Guitar/Background Vocals), Ryan Scott (Trumpet/Background Vocals/Percussion) & Kelly Finnigan (Keys/Lead Vocals) along with a rotating 2nd horn usually filled by Nadav Nirenberg (Trombone) from Ikebe Shakedown and Breakdown Brass.

Orgone is an 8-piece soul machine driven by Dan Hastie and Sergio Rios, once two kids from the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles united by a hunger for raw soul recordings.  While the musicians began by covering Booker T. & the MGs, The Meters, and other giants of soul, they eventually carved out a sound all their own.  Drawing on their love of Funkadelic, Santana, Muscle Shoals, and all things Stax, the duo sought to create the band that, if they were to hear for the first time, would be their instant favorite.  After living and working as session musicians for many years, they were still unable to find a studio that adequately captured their warm, gritty sound, so they decided to make one.  KillionSound Studios was hand-crafted as Orgone’s hub and home studio where they continue to create (including playing on a handful of Grammy-winning songs), rehearse, and record with Rios at the helm as chief engineer and Hastie as co-producer.

By teaming up with fiery soul singer Adryon de León, the band discovered the secret weapon that would take their sound to new heights.  With de León, Hastie on keys, Rios on guitar, and drummer Sam Halterman as the backbone, a deeply-rooted family of LA musicians makes up the rest of Orgone— Dale Jennings, bass, Will Phillips, percussion, Darren Cardoza, trombone, and JJ Kirkpatrick, trumpet.

The band’s never-ending lust for music - with Hastie, also a DJ, as head crate-digger - keeps them passionate about bringing new (and vintage) inspiration into the studio to produce the analog California Soul realness that Orgone stands for.

Orgone’s live show is fueled by appreciation for their ferocious, loyal fans and any and everyone who wants to get fired up, turned on, and sweat until they surrender.  The true voice of Orgone is raw soul and deep funk delivered honestly, always non-GMO and preservative-free.

Cookin’ On 3 Burners are Australia’s hardest hitting Hammond Organ Trio – joining the dots between Deep Funk, Raw Soul, Organ Jazz & Boogaloo.

Listening to Cookin’ On 3 Burners is like poking your head through a time portal that stretches between the year you were born and the middle of next week. 

On one hand there are clues to a spiritual home that’s situated somewhere in the back streets of 1966, but on the other is a reinvented soul stew that’s very much a product of the 21st Century.

Formed in 1997, Cookin’ On 3 Burners was always meant to be an experiment in sound. Drenched in the bluesy soulful influence of the late 60′s/early 70′s output of labels such as Prestige, Bluenote & Groove Merchant, these Melbourne music stalwarts began serving up a feast of tasty funk on a bed of Hammond soul, creating a flavour that gets better with every lick of the spoon. 

In 2002 they released their first 7” single (Gravel Rash / Pie Warmer) under the Bamboo Shack label and by the summer of 2009, the band was number 1 on the UK iTunes RnB charts with the track This Girl (featuring Kylie Auldist). In between, Cookin’ On 3 Burners, made their home at esteemed U.K label Freestyle Records, rocked the B-Boy and B-Girl championships, had songs featured on a string of hit TV shows and played alongside acts such as Quantic, Alice Russell, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Fat Freddie's Drop.

And the heat just keeps on rising. 

Six albums in and their new album Blind Bet more than delivers. Described as ‘classic soul sounds with a modern cinematic twist’, it features beautiful string and horn arrangements by Ross Irwin and special guest vocalists Daniel Merriweather, Tex Perkins, Kylie Auldist, Harry James Angus (Cat Empire) and Jason Heerah (Electric Empire)

Gemini Rising is the band project of Fiora, Lester Mendez and Marco Niemerski. The trio met in LA and felt instant chemistry, bonding over their love for 80s synth pop. Over a 12 month period split between Berlin and Los Angeles they created a full album that can be best described as retro-futuristic pop music. The emotive synth pop songwriting combined with an updated production vision on 80's new wave reminds you of something familiar while introducing you to something infectious and fresh at the same time.

The New Mastersounds are an astonishingly persistent funk/soul-jazz quartet who were founded in Leeds, UK in 1999 by guitarist/producer Eddie Roberts and drummer Simon Allen. They recruited Pete Shand on bass and Bob Birch on organ & piano. Bob left the band in 2007 and was replaced by Joe Tatton.  By the close of 2013 (the time of writing) their discography boasted more than twenty 7" 45rpm singles, 8 studio albums, 2 live albums, 1 remix album and several compilation albums, with one more studio album and another live album already recorded and pegged for release in 2014. The band has toured all over the USA (having visited 38 of the 50 states at last count), Japan, and to a lesser extent in UK & Europe.  Influences include James Brown, Grant Green, Booker T, Lou Donaldson and The Meters, as well as the (mainly) UK-based DJs who exposed the four musicians to the sounds of lesser known funk acts at the vinyl-only club nights of the mid-90's.
