Born and raised in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, Soulpimp arises from a long line of musicians. He grew up surrounded by a collection of music ranging from soulful funk to Tejano. But it wasn't until he discovered the original Hot Mix 5 on WBMX that Soulpimp's fascination with house music turned into an obsession; his "bedroom DJ" days were over.

Self-taught, Soulpimp began his DJ career mixing at underground house parties. In 2008, Soulpimp was asked to spin for famed Zentra's Halloween party; he spun alongside Chicago house natives, Lego, DJ Caveman and Luis Segura. Soon after, Soulpimp became a "house" hold name and has been featured at many house clubs and festivals, including the legendary Boom Boom Room, Martini Ranch and the annual House of Sol festival.
