Walkingstick has commanded the decks for over 15 years, produced music for over a decade, released numerous records and mixes and has traveled thousands of miles sharing his love for music and vinyl culture. His all vinyl sets feature maniacal, bass heavy jungle laced with hip hop, reggae, soul and funk. This veteran has toured around the world and has been a guest at some of Brazil’s most well-known clubs and festivals. Walkingstick is a resident of Oakland, California and appears regularly on cable television.
 


In the spring of 1998, just before moving to Pittsburgh, PA. to attend art school, Brian purchased his first set of turntables from a pawn shop. It was a very crude set up, but young Walkingstick was determined and could not resist the power of the needle on the record. Shortly after high school graduation he received a scholarship check for $600 which he put towards his first set of Technics 1200 turntables. After building up his vinyl collection and many hours of practice, he was ready to showcase his skills and share his love for music with the masses. It did not take him long to become a frequent guest at raves and clubs within the Pittsburgh/Cleveland electronic music scene and soon was making mix CDs for his friends. In 1999 Brian and longtime friend Bedford formed Total Xperience Productions. Together they threw numerous memorable events in Pittsburgh, PA., up through 2005, before moving to California. It was during that time that Walkingstick first met Carlos Soul Slinger and MC TC Izlam, 2 people he credits with giving him inspiration as a performer.

 In 2002 Walkingstick joined the Jungle Riddim family. With support from Kevin “Mainframe” and label don, Daniel, he began focusing on his production efforts and was soon cutting dub plates of his unique creations. In 2005 Walkingstick released his first vinyl record, Jungle Riddim 003. One year later he launched his own label, Walkingstick World Records. Since inception the label has released 4 vinyl records featuring artists from around the globe.

 Walkingstick is also a committed cannabis activist, artist, international journalist and appears regularly on television. He has had numerous photos and stories published in the Brazilian cannabis culture magazine “Semsemente”. For the past 3 years he has dedicated much of his time to the medical cannabis movement and was even featured in the Discovery Channel series “Weed Wars”. His television credits also include appearances in over 30 episodes of KOFY TV’s “Dance Party”. Brian has been photographed many times by the media as a result of his participation in rallies, raids and protests. One particular photo appearing in the Mercury News shows him being arrested during the 2012 May Day protests in Oakland, California.

 
In 2013 Walkingstick returns to Brazil for touring and to promote his latest vinyl release, Walkingstick World Records 004. In addition to new jungle mixes he is also working on a dedicated soul and funk set. 


Clearly there is no “off switch” for this jack of all trades.
