This song was born with an admiration to the young hyperempathic protagonist Lauren Olamina, from the #Earthsea series of #OctaviaEButler. I love her drive to survive and create a community with optimism and respect to one another, despite the carnage of her situation. I wanted to play at embodying some of her inspiring qualities, while also experiencing the feeling of starting new belief system, the feeling of belonging to a cult and the ego that comes with that power.

Efficiency is a meditation on late capitalist society and the worth it places on productivity over self-expression, connection and mental health. It’s an ironic swan song for a career caught in webs of IT and Agile methodology, and the dogmas of continual improvement chanted by corporate managerialists.

In the track, Domestic Safety, a joyous domestic event - a child's birthday party - turns claustrophobic with hints of violence, and the visceral fear that accompanies the unseen. Timelines are darkly non-linear; migrant isolation, horror and the familiar intersect through playful beats.

During my placement at a dementia ward at an aged care facility I met a woman who was at the end-of-life stage and clearly in distress. I was not able to understand what she was moaning, but another staff member who spoke Mandarin was able to decipher that she was saying “I feel that God has forgotten me”
This piece is inspired by that statement, and an attempt to understand what that might feel like.
The lyrics originate from spoken words I heard at the facility. During my time there,
I experienced and witnessed intense emotions which included distress, pain, fun optimism and laughter. This is an attempt to capture and remember my time there through song.
The marketing material provided by aged care providers and promises of the pharmaceutical companies are used as imagery inspiration for the piece, juxtaposed with statements of fear and foreboding. I wanted to combine the sounds and visuals of the capitalist institution with drug-induced dreamlike imagery of confused sexual desires and a blissful afterlife.

We Play Bingo (Featuring Euniq)

This sound started from a feeling of hopeless loneliness. The type that feels so deep and heavy that nothing can reach it. In the process of creation and arranging I sought collaboration to help ease this feeling I had.
Project collaboration is the only way I know to connect with people. I seek feedback and ideas. I take notes when friends say things to me that I don't understand at parties in the bathroom. I seek musicians to add, friends to sing, talk and play instruments.

In the video clip I wanted to create a mood of strange occurences. Where violence and care co-exist with beauty and movement.

ALX; GoSlow needs to be reminded to go slow. She is a Naarm based artist who has a tendency to rush. "Take it easy and enjoy the process of learning about music". She confidently navigates instruments she is not trained in. Exploring the unknown gives her freedom to wear a theatrical hat, play characters and find joy in unlikely places.
