                                                  Kelvyn Bell
                           “one who creates art using sound”

      Guitarist/composer Kelvyn Bell, leader of the avant-funk band
Kelvynator follows up the group’s 2013 release Funk 4 Wha Cha
Know with the debut of his solo outing, St. Louis Blu: Kelvyn Bell
Plays Acoustic Guitar. Bell uses a heavy dose of church, blues,
jazz and avant-garde to pay tribute to his Missouri hometown
roots.
         In 2012 Mr. Bell served as Music Director for the motion picture
“Freedom” featuring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sharon Leal.
Winner of the 2008 Audelco Award for “Outstanding Musical
Direction” of Archbishop Supreme Tartuff, featuring Andre
DeShields, Kelvyn served as Composer-In-Residence for The
Classical Theatre of Harlem from 2002 to 2009 and continues to
work in regional theater including The Florida Studio Theatre and
The Court Theatre – Chicago.
        
     As an educator Mr. Bell served as Music Department Director of
The Harlem School of the Arts mentoring a host of young talent
for over 12 years and is currently Program Director for The
Gloster Project, a Summer Arts Camp in rural Mississippi.

     Having performed as a guitarist in various colaborations with
poets Amiri Baraka, Sekou Sudiata and Quincy Troupe, Bell has
also recorded and performed extensively through Europe, Japan
and America with music greats Arthur Blythe, Lester Bowie,
James Carter, Maceo Parker & The JB’s, Defunkt and his own
avant-funk-jazz ensemble Kelvynator.
