Ensemble Laude, directed by Dr Elizabeth MacIsaac, is a women’s choir dedicated to singing modern, multicultural choral repertoire and early music.

 THE CHOIR

The English Choir Berlin was formed in the summer of 2013 to accompany Evening Prayers (Verspergottesdienste) at the Berliner Dom, the cathedral church for the City-State of Berlin. It sings both organ-accompanied and a cappella works.

The Choir’s musical focus is the repertoire commonly used in English cathedrals around the world. Not only does this include the musical settings specifically for Anglican liturgies such as Choral Evensong, Choral Mattins or Choral Eucharist, it also takes in the huge scope of other choral music designed for use in churches and, nowadays, increasingly in concert halls: anthems, motets, masses, etc.

Once established, The English Choir Berlin has rapidly expanded the number of venues where it appears. In addition to the Berliner Dom, Choral Evensong, Solemn Eucharist, Lessons & Carols and formal concerts have already been sung:

The English Choir Berlin is currently made up of some three dozen SATB adult singers of all ages, many of whom have sung in cathedrals or colleges, all of whom are skilled choristers, and some of whom have sung professionally. At present our singers come from Germany, Poland, Finland, Thailand, Spain, England, Wales, Scotland, Ulster, Eire, Australia, Canada, and the U.S.A.

Rafik Samman studied for a Masters degree in Musicology at University de Montreal. He studied choral conducting in France with José Aquino, and Iranian percussions with Jean Pierlot. He studied medieval singing with Sequentia in Cologne, Germany
In New York, he studied ethnic percussion with Glen Velez. Finally in Montreal he studied classical guitar with Antonin Bartos, John Mills and Eli Kassner, voice with Lucette Tremblay and african, brazilian and cuban percussions with Luc Boivin.

He worked, among others, with Marcabru, La Nef, El Extasis, Les Boréades, Les Idées Heureuses, Les Voix Humaines, Ensemble Caprice, le Cirque du Soleil and Karen Young as a percussionist, singer and lutenist. He has performed several times on Radio-Canada "Les Grands Concerts" and the series "Les Goûts réunis". He has recorded with thirty different ensembles of the Renaissance, medieval and baroque music. He also recorded with Karen Young, Alain Caron, Andre Gagnon, Michel Cusson, Denis Gougeon, Sylvain Bergeron, Claire Gignac, Mattias Maute, Sophie Larivière, Camil Beslile, Catherine Hermman, Suzie Leblanc, Dan Taylor, Jean-Pierre Noiseux, Jean-Pierre Pinson, Hughes Saint-Gelais, Betsy MacMillan, Élise Guay, Éric Mercier, Vincent Dhavernas, Angèle Laberge, Isabelle Marchand, Viviane LeBlanc, Suzie Napper, Margaret Little, Francis Colpron, Sylva Balassanian, Luc Boivin etc. He has performed as soloist and chorister in an Orthodox church in Montreal. He taught drumming, gregorian chant, medieval and renaissance music for several years in various music camps. He has participated in many studio recordings of film and theater music, and demos for various artists.

He toured for 7 years and 2,500 performances around the world with Cirque du Soleil.

Central Standard, the Kansas City metro’s award-winning men’s a cappella ensemble was named the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 3rd place bronze medalist chorus at the Society’s International Chorus Competition held in Pittsburgh PA on Friday, July 3, 2015. This is the first time a Kansas City chorus has had the distinction at earning a medal at an International competition, which have been held continuously since 1954.

Directed by Rob Mance, a graduate of the famed Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and a doctoral student at Kansas University in choral conducting, Central Standard won the first medal of any chorus ever representing the Kansas City area.

The competition featured the 28 highest-ranking choruses from around the United States, Canada and Europe, which were only a small part of over 800 such choruses around the world.

Formed in 2007, Central Standard started with a small number of performers dedicated to the advancement of men’s harmony and continued musical excellence. Today, the group encompasses about 45 active members across diverse personal and professional backgrounds. 

The chorus has competed at International competitions in Philadelphia (2010), right here in Kansas City (2011), Portland, Oregon (2012), and in Las Vegas (2014) where it placed 9th, its highest previous ranking.
Central Standard, a non-profit organization itself, has given back to Kansas City through volunteering and financial support to Harvester’s and maintains a regular relationship with that important Kansas City institution. It also has strong bonds with various local school music programs and other groups of area vocal performers.

Melos Music is a collective of composers who collaborate to create, publish, concertize, and advance new music to a global community. Melos composers are attracting significant attention in the U.S. and abroad with over one hundred annual concert performances worldwide.  Melos Music’s ongoing projects involve substantial collaborations with other ensembles and organizations which seek to cultivate new audiences and generate enthusiasm for contemporary music.  

Creative projects by Melos and its composers have been supported by ASCAP, New Music USA, the American Music Center, the American Composers Forum, the Theodore Presser Foundation, CBDNA, MTNA, the Mid-American Center for Contemporary Music, and others.  In addition, works written specifically for Melos projects have received awards from BMI, The American Prize, the newEar Competition, and the International Women in Music Conference. Melos composers have also received fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, the MacDowell Colony, the Fontainebleau Academy, and the Paul Sacher Stiftung Foundation, and they have received fellowships or commissions from leading music festivals including the Tanglewood Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Composer’s Conference at Wellesley College, June in Buffalo, the Brevard Music Center, soundSCAPE Festival in Italy, EAMA, the FuBis Academy in Berlin, La Pietra Forum in Italy, and others.

Orchestral works by Melos composers have been performed by the Nashville Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Eastman Philharmonia, the Loyola Symphony Orchestra, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, the Sound ExChange Orchestra, and the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra.  Wind Ensemble works have been performed by dozens of professional and collegiate ensembles in the United States, Canada, Japan, and elsewhere, while Choral, Operatic, and Art Song compositions receive dozens of annual performances around the world. Additionally, many leading new music ensembles have performed works by Melos composers including the Argento Ensemble, the Cygnus Ensemble, Da Capo Chamber Players, Ensemble Dal Niente, the Fifth House Ensemble, the PRISM Quartet, the Jack Quartet, Alarm Will Sound, and the Momenta Quartet. Melos composers have also been featured at major electro-acoustic festivals including the International Computer Music Conference (England), the NYC Electro-Acoustic Music Festival, the Workshop on Computer Music and Audio Technology (Taiwan), and the SEAMUS National Conference (Miami, FL).  

Melos composers are frequently featured on radio broadcasts, webcasts, and lectures throughout the U.S., and the group released its first commercial recording in 2012.  With all this and more, the group is quickly establishing itself as an important arts organization featuring many important emerging American composers.

Founded in the fall of 2008 in Winnipeg, Canada, Antiphony is a self-directed group of 10 singers in their mid to late twenties who bring their diverse musical experiences together because of their love of music and the desire to be in a high caliber vocal ensemble.
 
Singing a wide range of choral music, Antiphony strives to elicit a response from their audience by performing with a unique balance of maturity and youthful energy. They are renowned for their impeccable execution of the acapella style, demonstrated through the genres of pop, latin, classical and contemporary music only to name a few.

Sylvain Gagné est Auteur compositeur interprète francophone Québécois, membre de SOCAN.
Il a fait du chant choral pendant plusieurs années. Il élabore ses chansons à la guitare paroles et musiques. Finaliste au Concours Chantons Français de Radio-Canada il y a quelques années, il a participé à des ateliers du Festival de la Chanson de Granby au Québec.
Il a également participé au Festival de la Relève artistique de Québec télédiffusé par Telecom9 de Québec. Ses textes dans lesquels s'insère la poésie savent nous toucher .
Quelques chansons ont fait des incursions dans les radios au Québec, en Ontario, Nouveau-Brunswick   au Canada  et  ont reçues un bon acceuil du public .
