Welcome to the Meme HotMix, a monthly radio show on http://www.myhouseyourhouse.net playing every fourth Friday from 10pm-Midnight.

We place an emphasis on documenting the Nottingham House, Tech and Electronic scene, every show we have a different guest mix from a Nottingham Artist, playing their own original productions.

The hosts Joseki and Julian Zizko play a diverse selection of House and Electronic music, both cutting edge and old/obscure, with lots of exclusive re-edits we put together specially for the show.

Vardo and the Boss are unpredictable, unconventional and bursting with soul and energy. They blur the lines of musical genres with an eclectic mix of melodies and styles. From the energetic and dancey "Pockets", to the smooth and funky "That Kinda Love", each song has it's own distinct feel.

The rhythmic styles of the guitars are complimented by melodic electric piano, funky bass and driving drums, which make it impossible for the audience to stand still. Lauren Francis has a voice which can transform effortlessly from a sultry blues to a powerhouse of soul, and with the boys supporting her with three part harmonies, the music becomes richer and fuller still.

The band are a mismatched bunch of friends from Colchester, England, whose sound has been compared to bands like The Noisettes, Paloma Faith and Florence and the Machine.

Vardo's influences include (among many others) Florence and the Machine, Lianne La Havas, Led Zeppelin, Jamiroquai, Biffy Clyro, Incubus and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The sound that has resulted from such varying sources of inspiration is surprisingly distinct; catchy choruses, meaningful lyrics, cool grooves and a vibe which makes it unmistakably Vardo and the Boss.
