ALIEU JOBE (aka MYK JAYDA)
Currently in the Gambian Music Industry, any hip hop artists list without Myk Jayda is unauthentic and incomplete because he is the “GAM RAP KING”. Music isn’t his hobby,but his passion. Alieu Jobe was born on January 24th,1990 in a place called Latrikunda Sabiji, in The Gambia,to Mr. Demba Jobe and Mrs. Ida Kebbeh. He has other siblings but shares both parents with none. He attended Latrikunda Sabiji Lower Basic School for his primary education and he is a product of Gambia Senior Secondary School.
At a tender age and during his school days Myk Jayda could be seen doing a lot of brake dancing and freestyle rapping in the streets, and he got numerous recognition for his arts. He was greatly inspired to rap music by the American rap star Nas and he listened to a lot of his songs, this is to affrim the words of Tiffanic DeBartolo which says, ” Tell me what you listen to, and I will tell you who you are”. Myk Jayda is a Hip Hop artist.
Nonetheless, borrowing the words of John Lennon, “If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or music, then in that respect you can call me that…l believe in what I do and I will say it”, Myk Jayda is a rapper that believes in what he can do and is never afraid to express it.
On June 4th,2016, Myk Jayda released a mix tape titled ” Some Ran Some Stayed ” and had 22 hot tracks,which was mixed and mastered by Maaw Gee of Negrophli Studio ( now MBT Record Studio). This was a great success. A remix of its kind was done November 11th, the same year @ Latrikunda Sabiji and it was also successful. Some of the hit tracks include, “I hope”, ” Far from home”, “My mind”, ” GAM rap king” and other captivating collabos and singles.
Myk Jayda’s career as a musician so far has been very successful. His first stage appearance was with the Black Lynx monthly open mic at Buffer Zone and from their he has performed at several cyphers.
He has also performed at the Open Mic Festival, which is the country’s biggest music concert. And till date he still performs at shows and concerts.
Myk Jayda believes in the assertion that “You must make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change”, therefore on 5th January, 2017, he signed and joined one of the best record labels in the country called Runway Entertainment. On April 2017, he was nominated for the WAHSA HALAT Music Awards and was awarded Hip Hop Artist of the year,which was well deserved. The hits came coming as he moved in with Runway Entertainment and he continued churning out more hits which lead to another project.
On May 5th, 2017, he launched the next project titled, ” I Am Hip Hop ” at Alliance Franco. The E.P was a project of 10 songs such as “Kansi Yenama Nyemeh” which means “who will face me”, ” Hamadi”, ” Dabbing “, ” Hottest in the Game” ft Royal Messenger, and other motivational, playful and danceable songs.
Nevertheless,Myk Jayda is about to release an album titled “No Guts No Glory”, much to the excitement of his already sizeable army of fans and it underlines the changes that he has gone through over recent years.
When Myk is not writing songs or recording them, he loves to watch and play football, watch battle raps and he also loves to hang out with family and friends.
Finally, they say only an emperor can rule his empire, he does not fear when lions roar because he is a dragon and speaks fire. No wonder they call him ‘Flamebarz’. He has taken the next step, set standards and raised the bar higher. The respect is earned, the titles well deserved, progress is moving forward but if you are going to hate and not appreciate you will just keep going round like a busy car tyres. The talent in music is God given and no man can take that away from him. Forward ever, backward never.

Some are born with musical talents while others have to study and hone their craft through hard work, and both holds true for Jizzle. Young as he may be, in age and experience in the music industry, Jizzle nonetheless does not take for granted his natural musical ability and quality. He employs both exuberance and brainpower to pull off conscious, sweet songs viable in today’s pop-culture.

Born Jerreh Jallow, he was christened Jizzle by his pals. He put his talents to test as a teen, displaying natural stage presence and star quality in his performances. Music has since been his way, encompassing both writing and singing ability.

Jizzle is well on his way to making a significant break into the music industry. He and Atlanta musicProducerPapahave released their debut single ‘Dance to the Sound‘ on International Record Consortiumand The Loopyfrost Label. Already making major traction in the U.S. and West Africa, ‘Dance to the Sound‘ is a club banger that leaves nothing to the imagination, and is sure to get club goers on the dance floor.

About the Artist

A conscious singer and songwriter, Jizzle is sensitive to his environment. Evident in his debut single, “Over Sona” in which he highlights the plights of young people neglected by the adult world. ‘Over Sona’ itself, is an exaggerated expression of despair common among Gambian young people. “I thought I’d never experience such conditions until I saw people’s lives, so I sang it,” he once said in a newspaper interview.

But, every right goes with a responsibility – a clichéJizzle often ponders. In his hit single, ‘Life Is Not Easy’,Jizzle criticises the status quo in the ghettos where young people tend to build a utopia and challenges them to “make their minds up,” “get their heads up” and work up their potentials, despite the many odds. For him, success is a destination journeyed through inescapable bumpy road.

There are other moods, too, in the 25 songs Jizzle, so far, has to his name. For instance, in hits, ‘Rumpa’, and ‘Mi Deh Pan Mi Side’, Jizzle gives us lilting melodic tributes to love, beauty and tenderness. Lo and behold, it’s the hit, “Together We Make” that propels him into the international limelight. Fan votes selected the song on Global Rock Star, an international music award.

While Gambia’s music industry boasts a flood of talented young singers, Jizzle undoubtedly is a rare breed. He majors in rap but occasionally sings dancehall. One of his wonders is that he sings in three major West African languages – Fula, Mandingo and Wolof – and an international language, English, making him a marketable brand, both at home and abroad. Besides, a growing popular demand, Jizzle performs in major national concerts and features on radio and TV shows such as the popular BNL TV Show.
