The Schizophonics are, in one word, EXPLOSIVE. Their frenzied live performances tap into the same unstoppable combination of rock ‘n’ roll energy and showmanship that fueled the MC5 in the heyday of the Grande Ballroom. When they hit the stage, they grab your attention and don’t let go. They’ve built up a formidable reputation in their home base of San Diego and a fervent following among locals. Pat Beers is like a cross between Jimi Hendrix and James Brown – yelping, wailing, shralping the guitar with his left hand while gyrating all over the place; Lety keeps it real behind the kit.

Close It Quietly is a continual reframing of the known. It’s like giving yourself a haircut or rearranging your room. You know your hair. You know your room. Here’s the same hair, the same room, seen again as something new. Close It Quietly takes the trademark Frankie Cosmos micro-universe and upends it, spilling outwards into a swirl of referentiality that’s a marked departure from earlier releases, imagining and reimagining motifs and sounds throughout the album. FC’s fourth studio release is a manifestation of the band’s collaborative spirit: Greta Kline and longtime bandmates Lauren Martin (synth), Luke Pyenson (drums), and Alex Bailey (bass) luxuriated in studio time with Gabe Wax, who engineered and co-produced the record with the band.

Aimee, Will, John, Jason, Dustin. Things change, John has left and now there is Hector. Elements of indie pop, psychedelic and '60s rock with an emphasis on strong melodies, strong words, strong coffee, and guy-girl vocals.

J. Hofstee’s blend of indie rock Americana and dark, layered compositions, serve as an immersive soundtrack to an exploration of a fragile mind. Weaving between walls of melancholy and intimate moments stripped to Hofstee and a single microphone, his debut ep “Devil on my Shoulder”, never wavers in connecting to the universal pains of the human heart. Borne out of Alpine, Ca, the tug and pull between a rural community on the cusp of city life is felt as the music beckons listeners to withdraw from the everyday and rediscover the self.
