CHAPTER 5 - SUMMER
This ballad tells of Tomasz’s desperate search for life-giving water during a punishing drought, turning his digging into both a physical struggle and a spiritual trial. As he labours in searing heat—finding only buried bones and whispering the names of his community—the well becomes a symbol of hope that slowly shades into futility. The whispered bridge, with its omens of fire, night, and the earth’s sighs “once for the living, twice for the dead,” suggests that nature itself is indifferent to human need. By dawn, with the pit empty and Tomasz lying beside it, the song becomes a stark meditation on perseverance in the face of scarcity and on the fragility of human trust when the earth offers no reply.

TOMASZ I STUDNIA (FIVE 5.4)

This is the music project of Steve Lewis, a classically trained cellist and multi-instrumental singer-songwriter based in Berlin, Germany.
