Now rising as one of the prominent rappers to break into the Texas Rap scene, CIZ has caught the eye of mainstream media outlets. Born Robert Gutierrez in San Antonio Texas, CIZ grew up in the city’s south side living in a household with his parents and 3 siblings. At first CIZ went about piecing together studio equipment until he had the preliminary makings of a studio. CIZ recalled his interest in writing his own music started at the age of 10, then later developed his writing and put it to use when he and some long time friends first recorded at his home. Shortly after his initial recordings spread through his community CIZ began to make contacts with several promoters and rappers in San Antonio’s music industry. At this time CIZ gained a large fan base but at the time was unable to capture radio play or larger Texas markets, this was until CIZ came into contact with several professional producers such as Ace 1 Productions, and F.N.S, that were able to bring out and transform his home recordings into the crisp new sound of rap that CIZ had originally only hoped to obtain. With the assistance from some of the best in San Antonio’s music industry, CIZ was now able to break further into the music scene. With his induction into mixmatters.com, and also onto various mix tapes such as DJ Locnez - Don’t Mess with Texas Vol 2, which features his song Turn Around, CIZ now looks back onto a time when he had first pushed his music out on the streets, to now being one of a few chosen to represent some of the new Texas talent. 
With inspiration from hip hop artists such as lil Wayne, 2 Pac, Pit Bull, and R&B artists such as R Kelly, Usher, CIZ hoped to bring collaboration between the 2 genres in his own rap music, but instead of featuring an R&B artist CIZ choose to be both the rapper and the R&B artist in his own songs. What once seemed like a distant dream is now only coming more to reality for this Texas native. Upon ending the interview with CIZ he leaves us with a comment regarding his dream “ Music has been my dream and my addiction, I came from having nothing, but with my dream I have gained something that no one can take away from me, A Purpose”
