It's been almost three years since I dropped Musicality IX. I see this compilation series as a personal expression. Not just from compiling music that I admire but a reflection on who I am and where I am during the time of its release.
 
Volume IIX came to you during the 2020 Covid outbreak, then IX dropped ten years since my first. This means I haven’t expressed my musical passion with you all since 2021! We took a trip down memory lane with IX and even deeper with Classic House & Trance for the ‘Classic Edition’, so I wanted to make sure X had a greater meaning, offering a bigger impact.
 
I'm excited to share Musicality X with you. I think it captures something special. Even if I do not reach a lot of streams or downloads, none of that matters. I enjoy listening back to Musicality, as a self-reflection and a musical archive.
 
It doesn’t matter who the artists are, the labels, the speed, the genre, when the songs were released or even the musical direction; what does matter to me is the musical impact. There’s musicality in everything. Musicality is the quality of having a pleasant sound, all I ask from you, is to listen.

The past month felt like it took disproportionately long. Maybe it were all the new impressions and all the new people that I met, maybe it was all the travel time (I'm writing this while on the train), but I feel like I exponentially grew as a person in such a short amount of time. They say you're never too old to learn, and indeed I am still learning a lot about myself and life in general. I read a nice quote that you can only change your life when you go from wanting to change to deciding to change. And while on paper I decided to make such drastic changes to my life, it doesn't feel scary at all. I just feel like I am on the right track, towards the right positive energy. And maybe it's because however unpredictable and dynamic life gets, music will always be a stable factor for me. It gives me inspiration, it helps me focus, and it drives me nearer to my emotions and passions. Spending so much time commuting and actively listening to music lately, has made me appreciate all the more music's capabilities of storytelling and transporting you to some other plain of existence. For February's mix I tried to include some unknown gems that struck a chord with me and that really deserve some love. May they accompany you on your travels unknown. <3 Joey.

This mix delves deep into some of Paul’s favourite tracks from over the past 12 months and beyond; a journey into melodic, emotive, deep house and progressive trance.

Contagious (Paul Wrigley) recently moved away from his hometown of Adelaide, Australia in November 2017 to Hobart, Tasmania. Paul has made the choice to take a break from his radio show Your Unity (FKA Global Trance) that he has been a part of since 2006. He’s made the move to be with his partner Nicole and hang up the headphones from his weekly radio/podcast commitment. 

This year’s Musicality Compilation truly expresses all the emotions that Paul has had during the past twelve months.

The album artwork and image are designed by Paul. The image was taken in September 2017 from Mount Wellington overlooking Hobart, Tasmania in Australia where Paul now calls home.
