DJ Maximus aka Max Van Morrison Biog:

Over the last 15 years I've been lucky enough to Dj at many of the best clubs in London including FABRIC, SOSHO, EGG, 54, M.O.S, CENTRO/THE DEN (AKA THE END), PLAN B, EAST VILLAGE, CABLE, HERBAL, THE KEY, DRIVER, LOST ANGEL, 1001, SHOREDITCH HOUSE aswell as many U.K underground clubs such as STUDIO 11, WHIPPING HOUSE and as far a field as Hong Kong and the Phillippinnes. 

I'm currently resident at Can't Stop Won't Stop, 22 Below &amp; Lowlife. (Check full venue list at the foot of the page) Through these many dj experiences i've learned a lot about making a crowd move or just creating the right soundscape for the evening. I love what i do and cant ever imagine doing anything else.

My musical tastes range from everything from early Motown, Jazz , Blues to Hip Hop, Soul, Ska, Drum and Bass, House, Minimal &amp; Techno... over the years i've collected well over 10,000 records!! These are all styles which I regularly play out. Big love goes out to everyone who has surported me over the years and continue to do so! Big respect to you! Here's how it all started...

In 1989 i had my first real musical influence watching a 1988 DMC MIXING FINALS video tape, on this i saw the amazing cutting &amp; scratching skills of Dj CASH MONEY. This inspired me to become a disk jockey. In 1991 i got my first decks, an all in one with rotary knobs and no pitch controls plus 30 ACID HOUSE &amp; HARDCORE BREAKBEAT records. Among these were "House Is Mine" on Rising High, "Edge 1" &amp; early work from BLAME.
In 1992 I began playing at illegal parties in unused warehouses in LINCOLN. After a few years Djing &amp; sneaking into Raves i decided to move to NOTTINGHAM.

Djs i followed like CARL COX, COLIN DALE, Dj HYPE etc were going in different musical directions like TECHNO, JUNGLE &amp; HAPPY HARDCORE. I preferred the darker stuff played by HYPE, GROOVERIDER, KENNY KEN, LTJ BUKEM &amp; GOLDIE etc. At 17 i promoted D &amp; B parties in Nottingham at clubs such as the SKY CLUB, THE LENTON &amp; THE HOUSE. Through these i met the Sherwood Forest rave promoters FREEK BROS &amp; PE.2 CREWS. I moved to London in 1996 via a short stay in MILTON KEYNES.

When i lived in EC1, i got word of a new club opening called FABRIC. I got a job there, &amp; a year later the head of Promotions offered me a position promoting the club &amp; looking after the Djs &amp; performers on Club nights on Friday &amp; Saturday nights. Through this i met a lot of my inspirations like GROOVERIDER, GOLDIE, COLIN DALE, CARL COX, PESHAY, RAY KEITH, HYPE &amp; DAVE ANGEL &amp; Nu Skool Djs like HIGH CONTRAST, FRESH, &amp; CLIPZ. 

Due to a cancellation by Dj legend FABIO in 2001, i was asked to fill in. My set went down well &amp; brought a lot of positive feedback. Since then i haven't looked back &amp; have djed at many of London's top bars &amp; clubs playing all different genres of music, lately i've been playing a lot of Minimal, House &amp; Techno around the top clubs in the capital such as EGG, SOSHO, THE DRIVER, CAFE 1001, CABLE and at such promotions as CANT STOP WONT STOP, BREAKFAST @ EGG &amp; SUPERNOVA. 

I'm currently in the studio at the moment working on my first genre busting album... coming late 2011.

SOCIALISE began life as a small gathering of friends throwing irregular one-off parties at a number of small London based venues. These parties were simply an excuse for like-minded individuals to gather and share in a fondness for all things house related. It's now several years later and we're still making a racket.

bio taken from forge dj agency! Born & bred in Walthamstow, London, Mr Cook’s love for music started at an early age. As soon as he thought he looked old enough he was out clubbing!

At the tender age of 14 he attended his first rave and, like many kids his age he hung aro...und with, he knew this was the start of something very exciting. Sure enough, a friend had arranged tickets for him to the legendary Dance 91 at Pickets Lock. Prodigy performed live that night and ‘Charley’ became the tune that stuck in his head. There was a real awakening that night for Ben and the very next day he decided that house music was where his heart would take him. To this day he insists that, that night changed his life.
When the hardcore rave sound morphed and became a new genre called Drum & Bass Mr Cook’s true musical taste began to unravel. Over time the D&B sound became darker and raving more dangerous, so Mr Cook would spend more time listening to the US garage and UK house sound older friends listened to. He went to Ibiza in 1994 with seven mates on a typically mad club 18-30 holiday and the Balearic house sound grabbed a hold of his soul! Back in London he took up DJing and started clubbing again at The Epping Forest Country Club which became his clubbing home up until its closure in 2002!
In the early part of 1999 Cooky (as he is known to his mates) gained a residency on Saturday night’s at a wine bar in Chingford, Essex. He started appearing on the east London based Shine FM pirate radio station. He would play soulful D&B and old skool house and garage with a couple old pals and they became the Out Cry Syndicate. The OCS express became essential listening for the local raver’s on the manor. Ben fell in love with the whole pirate radio way of life and would spend up to 10 hours sometimes in the studio. The show eventually gained respect from the other people involved at the station and got great feedback from the public. Shine FM boosted his profile and soon enough Mr Cook was asked to play at the now infamous Sunshine Daze at the Scala, Kings Cross in London. Those series of parties sold out each time and Mr Cook became an in demand name on the scene in east London. He was also asked to play at the Warehouse in Edmonton & Faces nightclub in Essex. He was asked to play at the legendary BIG parties held by Ford house, the notorious after parties which ran from 5am until 3pm. After that, The Waterfront in Canary Wharf became the only place to be on Sunday nights and ran until 2am Monday morning…
Ambition led him to move to another pirate station and after appearing for a while on Passion FM, the legendary Centreforce had reformed and was returning to broadcast underground music to the east London populace. He took up the challenge of Saturday’s and would play marathon sets through out the night and sleepless weekend’s DJing at BIG. When Centreforce decided to push for a legal license Cooky joined RINSE FM on Saturday nights appearing from 12midnight until 2am.from 2009 to 2012! Mr Cook then had a weekly show called 'THE SUNDAY FLEX' every sunday 12-2pm 'THE SUNDAY FLEX' now resides on THE UNDERGROUND SESSIONS www.ugsradio.com every sunday 2pm till 4pm podcasts posted on my www.mixcloud.com/djmrcook

Mr Cook has played at the world famous Fabric,Ministry of Sound, Hidden @ studio 33, The Scala, Seone, The Rhythm Factory, Herbal and Aquarium in Shoreditch, Last year he appeared on his first foreign DJ experience at the Beachlent event in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Mr Cook has the bug and his music can only be described as QUALITY UNDERGROUND! The world better take a listen…
