Femi Natural Essence Bio

Founder of Natural Essence Media- he has been spinning on the London underground house scene for 15 years. Hosting a wealth of events and parties for prestigious names of the industry such as  - Defected, Twilo, Garage Nation as well as a number of radio stations such as Ice Fm, BBC1 Xtra and has done guest slots on Colourful Radio. It is a refreshing feeling to know that Femi Natural Essence passion for the love of music filters through his professionalism of his DJing and the Natural Essence company.   Currently running the Natural Essence Media.

Femi Natural Essence formally known as DJ Extreme, starting his career in the early 90’s influenced by number of DJs and artists across many genres of music.  Got a break from Jason Kaye from the legendary UK Dance outfit Top Buzz (Together with Mikee B’who went on to form The Dreem Team). Femi became a regular at the Garage Nation events. and a number of events and venues in London, including Ministry of Sound, Colosseum, Gass Club, to name a few.

 2002 saw the birth of a Black Op’s with  a UK underground music and cultural movement, in that period he traveled far and wide DJing, promoting and performing in cities such as  Amsterdam, New York, Barcelona and many more.  Black Ops Sublow sound developed in to the Dubstep sound it is now, with many of its artists citing Black Ops as a direct influence. During that spell Femi held down one of the most popular radio shows on London pirates Ice Fm the legendary Friday night Sublow sessions and still spoke about today, and rare copies of the show are still very much sort after.  The Black Ops Group was courted by Warner and BMG at its height.

Femi  continued to promote House Music events at venues such as Pacha London, Ministry of Sound and a number of other venues in London and the UK.   2011 Femi re launched the label with a Dance and House A&R policy signing acts from across the globe, as far wide as South Africa and US. He is currently busy running the label and hosting the weekly Natural Essence House Show which is broadcast on a number of Internet and FM radio stations around the world. He is also perfecting his own production skill and DJing around the UK and Europe.

BIOGRAPHY
Gcina Sawuka is a photographic artist who specializes in images of the living world.Born in South Africa in 1989,He first used the camera to document life in Soweto.He moved to Mofolo North and co-founded one of Soweto’s leading photographic and marketing special effects companies.With the use of pioneering digital techniques.

In the early 20's he began photographing events, and within a short time he had swapped his established city career for the precarious life in Soweto.Gcina Sawuka’s concern for the environment is strongly evident in his images.He strives to capture the human's spirit,and blur the lines separating different species.His photographs of people reveal a compassionate understanding of his subjects,evident in his photos Living Soweto and Trading Places: 

He has won Local awards for his work,including,The Golden Eye of Soweto, and The Musiq Express Radio Hour Awards.He has had a number of exhibitions, both current and in the planning stage,including large outdoor exhibitions in city centres.The free outdoor exhibitions,promoting environmental issues,are major events staged in conjunction with city authorities,and attract visitor numbers in the millions.

Gcina Sawuka frequently reinvents his creative approach to his work. In the 2000's he pioneered the process of morphing images into each other, long before such techniques became popular on the computer.His work in South Africa Soweto, poignant and edgy,reveals the alienation of a country on the cusp of change; placing Sawuka among the select few photographers who caught the mood of the time.

His venture into photography was a continuation of his exploration of different genres of photography,and it struck a chord with the general public.His goal was to use images to communicate with the masses,and take photography exhibitions outside galleries.This was done in spectacular fashion with the publication of Untamed in ten languages for its first edition,and the staging of major outdoor exhibitions.The exhibition has been seen by thousands of people in three South African cities. In Credo Mutwa Cultural Village,more than 900 visitors were officially counted during the five month run.

Gcina Sawuka is an accomplished speaker,Sales Adviso,Peer Educuter at venues such as the Youth Aids and Love Life youth Festival,Focusing on Imaging,happy moments.He has work with Soweto Beer Festival of Ideas,Lilac Jeans CD launch,Ur Gig Guide SA,Hood Native,Zone Six Venues,Fifth Element>,Back Yard Tape and Kasidirect.Bookshops such as Umsobonvu well known as NYDA,Jozi Book Fair,After dinner inspirational fund-raising talks have included The WWF and Save The Rhino.
