MTS Music, in collaboration with Narked Records, is please to announce the release of Spiritual Relationship: The Deeper Meaning, the new album by Washington DC based music producer Matthew Shell. The Deeper Meaning was conceived over a period of 15 years ago by Matthew Shell. During this process, over 200 songs were created and scratched before this final version of 11 songs were picked to be recorded and release as part of this project. Matthew’s wife, Terra, inspired the completion of this concept album which goes from two destined souls being alone, to meeting, to growing in love, to protecting each other, to finding true love that lasts a lifetime.

In Native American lore, the tail of the constellation we call Scorpius, represents rabbit tracks. The appearance of rabbit tracks in the snow heralds the coming of spring.  During the evening, I noticed the dome had a pronounced response to the pitch of D, so I made the melody sparse (hopping like a rabbit) in order to allow the dome acoustics to play a greater part. This song has the longest fade out, because the high Ds hung in the air longer than any other note. Sometimes it just feels like time is “flying by.” Albert Einstein explored this, and theorized that the world around us is actually speeding up gradually. Side effects of this stretching and bending of time cause many of the issues we face in our day-to-day lives.  Distorted Time is a musical reflection of this process.

The song infuses world instruments from Turkey, Persia, and India and combines standard, jazz, pentatonic, and non-standard semi-tone scales.  Our hope is that this 3- minute track will bring you back to your roots, cause you to pause and take a deep breath, and help you to shine your light on all that is real and true within yourself.
