Adey Omotade works across an ecosystem of acoustic ecology, sound design, video and experimental music. His Yoruba roots provide the view through which he explores and engages archival research alongside oral histories and traditions to reveal embodied narratives that excavate ancestry, migration, ecology and identity; and the ways structures of power shape our perception of indigenous practices, representation, race and love.

 His work incorporates snippets of classical African music, rhythms, and archival sounds. He works at the intersection of Yoruba opera, orchestral, house, chamber music, oral tradition, sound installation and noise. A firm believer in music and performance as a tool for archiving and preservation of Yoruba culture, he speaks to the status quo while drawing parallels to history. Born in Ile-Ife, Adebayo was immersed in art and sound from a tender age, as part of a cultural art ensemble originating in Osogbo and touring the south-western region of Nigeria. 

In 2009, he co-founded the musical trio 'The Fridge’ in South Africa that toured from Johannesburg to Cape Town. He curated ‘DOPAMINE’ the first album by South African artist Bongy Mvuyana.

 In 2015, he re-established Skata Vibration, an Afro-psychedelic rock band that toured Nigeria and France. 

In 2017, he produced Nigerian alternative maestro Brymo’s first all-live studio recording single, “Do You Know Me” and co- produced his album ‘The A.A.A Project’ in 2018.

In 2020, Adey Omotade recorded his first solo project- Niri, an experimental music project which is a result of research and experiments of over ten years. It incorporates snippets of live-recorded chants from his Yoruba spiritual traditions with extraction of archival Yoruba music dating back to the 30s. With this album, he has carved out his own style; a genre of sound that is unboxed and stands in its own uniqueness, making it accessible to all who are interested in connecting to their roots.

Adey Omotade is a recipient of the 2021 ACP-EU Culture - AWA grant for West Africa.

 In 2022, Adey Omotade, with members of the collective he founded, participated in a two month residency at the Cité internationale des Arts in Paris, France. 

Adey just completed his residency at the prestigious La Napoule Art Foundation in France for his upcoming project ‘Irin Ajoo.’

He is the founder of the Abele Arts Foundation committed to discovering underground artists and providing them with access to international residencies, funding and support.

MXO, AFRICAN JAZZ PIONEERS, MOSES KHUMALO, 
DOLLY RATHEBE, DOROTHY MASUKU to name a few and 
also featured on Jack Lerole’s documentary with Dave Matthews 
(Back to Alexandra) Jack Lerole Jnr recently represented SA at the 
YOUNG EURO CLASSIC 2019 in Berlin (Germany) alongside 
Lira (SA) and Nils Landgren (Sweden) were they sold out a show 
at KONZERTHAUS and Took part at the MOSHITO 2019 
alongside MoAfrica and Jessica Mbangeni. 
Jack Lerole Jnr is also a Penny Whistle teacher at Morris Isaacson 
Center for Music (Soweto) where his penny whistle ensemble in 
2018 performed for both SA and German President in one week as 
he keeps the Legacy of Township Jazz and Jack Lerole alive.
He is currently recording his debut album (Tribute to Jack Lerole) 
a super sound that reflects the world and African phases of Penny 
whistle styles growing Kwela, Mbhaqanga and Afro Jazz,

his love 4 hip hop grew as he started writting,beat making, producing, he hustled 4rm school shows to another gaining recognition, fanbase & experience in live perfomance. In his solo journey he met prof & bre & gtwn's legendary crew elements himself was born. Analiating a lot of opponents in battles & inspiring with consciousness they developed a huge fan base & street cred.


In 2009 as a hustler he is, he was forced to moved out of town where he got compelled by diffrent circumstances to pursue a solo project since he seperated 4rm his crew.Listenng to his Debut ''Imvakalelo Yombhali '' u would notice he took a diffrnt route 4rm the splif u knw, 1 could argue that his more matured, got more wiser, motivational while entertaining @ the same time( edutainment Music), with truth that leads & inspires the young a true shepherd indeed. His music is mostly motivated by challenges that  the community faces  in th daily basis any age can relate 2 his music, . He won the award in Hip Hop 4 The Best of Makana, has perfomed in th ci-fest, national arts festival,Street cypher's n his currently hosting a hip hop show in Kowie fm 99.0fm..called the Exodus.


The shepherd's goal is to be part n parcel of  th positive few in our society who's aim is shaping th community 4 a better tommorow, His contribution is through music ..He wants to tour around doing what he loves most ''perfoming'' spreading Hip Hop .....let me knw people where n when ...I'll let ma music do the talking FAM......
