The album is full with music and words defiant, reverent, irreverent, holy, profane, rebellious, conspiring with life, love, and wonder to inspire and steer us toward freedom. The Vagabond Bard holds no truck with the traps of captivity:" If I dance to your music, you might try to steal my mind. If I dance to your music, you might even lose my mind." The characters in these songs rise before us as our human potential for choices, good or ill. One searcher stands at Robert Johnson’s proverbial Crossroads lamenting he cannot even find the Devil to whom he can sell his soul for the gift to play guitar “when an angel pulled up in a Mustang and I fell on my knees.” We learn how to give up and let go while paradoxically choosing to move to a different type of music. 

These songs do not skirt bottomless matters of Spirit and Soul. They, in fact, call us to a deepening of perception/vision and living grounded on the road of becoming. In “Otherside” the Bard proclaims from the road of searching, “There is a song I sing forever It is a Spirit melody The words are lost but I will find them They are a lonely remedy.” Here there are questions pondered, hard rains fallin’, winds a-howlin’, four Riders approachin’, seven Ravens circlin’, pigeons cryin’, three crosses hangin’ on yonder hill, mankind standin’ on the station drinking oblivion’s wine…and we still wonder why too many die.
