Alligator Gumbo - unpolished traditional and self written Cajun music from the heart!

Cajun music is a world heritage that was born and developed by the French immigrants in South Western Louisiana during the 19th century. Alligator Gumbo is a band from southern Sweden that, due to the members' love for the music of southern Louisiana, interprets and plays traditional and self-written Cajun music in a way that is true to tradition. The vocals are unrestrained and emotional and sung in Louisiana French, the particular French dialect developed in Louisiana.

The passion for this music rubs off on the audience, and especially on the dance floor. 
The great enthusiasm of the organizers and the audience immediately made Alligator Gumbo decide to record a CD. The album, named Lacassine Special was released in 2012..

In October 2013, Alligator Gumbo´s accordionist Thor Ahlgren travelled around south Louisiana, jamming with legends of cajun and zydeco music. Thor had brought one of his bagpipes with him on the trip and surprised everyone by tearing off some Cajun songs on it.

Maiden uniteD plays Iron Maiden songs in reimagined acoustic arrangements. 
“Mind the Acoustic Pieces” is the first release of this project. An all-acoustic reinterpretation of the classic 1983 album 'Piece of Mind' with new arrangements and played by an impressive ensemble (Mike Coolen, Ruud Jolie, Marco Kuypers, Damian Wilson, Joey Bruers and guest singer Anneke van Giersbergen). The second album 'Across The Seventh Sea' is sheduled to be released on September 28th 2012.

Steel Threads are an original band performing their own unique blend of acoustic rock and folk. 

Formed in 2011 the band comprises of Neil Wardleworth on guitar, bass drum and vocals, and Laura Wilcockson on violin and vocals and Tracy Beardmore on bass, violin and vocals.

Influenced by Led Zeppelin, Crowded House, and Fleetwood Mac, Steel Threads pride themselves on their strong songwriting and energetic performances.

The band’s debut album Timing Is Everything was released in June 2012 and the band has gigged throughout the UK, building a strong following ever since. The strength of support is evidenced by the fact that For Those Who Are Left was pledge funded by fans and reached its target much more quickly than the band expected.

The next album The Rule of Three is influenced by the decision to become a 3 piece band in February 2015, the extra energy that has created, and the fact it is the bands third album.

Steel Threads maintain a very full gig schedule, with dates up and down the UK including many a festival, venue and real ale pub along the way.


Much loved Yorkshire folk duo Belinda O’Hooley and Heidi Tidow have been propelled into newfound fame for penning the theme tune to Sally Wainwright’s hit BBC1/HBO drama ‘Gentleman Jack’, earning them global admiration, appearances on TV, Radio 4 Woman’s Hour and concerts that sell out months in advance.

Belinda and Heidi’s boundless songwriting has been described by The Guardian as ‘exceptional’ and The Independent as ‘defiant, robust, northern, poetical, political folk music for the times we live in.’ Their first full studio album in seven years; ‘Cloudheads’ delves into the mindscapes, passions and inner worlds of two highly individual autistic women; Belinda and Heidi. Moving, melodic, dramatic and tender, from stories of parenthood, the call of a song thrush, to a portrait of the last days of a touching relationship between their neighbour Matthew and his beloved Alsatian, Ted, and even a collaboration with Gentleman Jack herself, Suranne Jones on ‘The Ballad of Anne and Ann’, they explore, consider and connect subjects and stories in a distinctive, inventive and memorable way.

Having the originality and skill to invite comparison with the most celebrated harmony duos, 6 Music’s Tom Robinson says ‘They sing together in the way families do. Normally, you only get that closeness in the voices with family bands like The Coppers or The Watersons.’
