Welcome to the 31st edition of Waldo Jeffers’ Friday Night Warts n All covers. Following on from the overwhelming success of “Tango Til They’re Sore”from Tom Waits’ Raindogs album the MySpace exploded after 14 listens clambering for more so Waldo always aims  to please & so offers up a take on “Time” from the same record. which also includes the longest unpunctuated sentence of his descriptions to date which is impressive in it’s own right.

Welcome once again to Waldo Jeffers’ Friday Night Warts n All Covers. 
This week's stab is at the second single from The Go-Betweens’ 3rd album “Spring Hill Fair” released in November 1984. 
The album never charted in either Australia or the Uk, neither did the single.  A very good sign as it’s far too good for the masses. 
It was the only song played at the Legendary George Byrne’s funeral, a man who knew music & didn’t suffer fools gladly!


 The song’s writer Grant McLennan said "I'm sorry if it sounds a country song but it's not about that. I see a lot of infidelity around me most people involved in music are guilty of it in many cases. I see a lot of trust, promises being broken – I'm guilty of it myself. It's about all the promises the world of men have made women as far as the future of their lives, security, the raising of children, and I've found it wanting. Not a unique thought."

Almost forgot my Waldo duties, apologies to my 9 fans! It’s Friday night warts n all covers with an uptempo acoustic Shoegaze  take on the Grant Hart Classic “2541”
I once  saw both Grant & Robert Forster play this same song in the same venue in the same week. 
Only time it’s ever happened. Very happy with the rhythm here.

Waldo Jeffers is nothing if not stubborn & so after a year of Friday Night’s Warts n All Covers, the project comes to an end. 
The closing song is a deconstruction of LCD Soundsystem’s 2007 single “All My Friends” recorded, produced, music played & mastered by xcaliber at his Prenzlauer Berg Studio in East Berlin (Hansa was booked out) 🙏
Maybe the best song that decade, I have great memories of them headlining Electric Picnic and thousands of objects suspended in the strobe lit air of this song as they got louder & faster with our heartbeats - magical moment ❤️
