Long Beach native and Bass aficionado Mike Long splits his time between two music projects “Perro Bravo” and a long beach super group named “Warchurch “. Perro Bravo is a new band started by Michael “Miguel “Happoldt. Miguel began his musical adventure as a member and producer of the group “Sublime”. Warchurch features Delmos Wade, Opie Ortiz of the Long Beach Dub Allstars, DJ Truly Odd of Heavyweights LA and d.j. extraordinaire Greyboy of the “ Greyboy Allstars “. Mike started his musical performance career with the Long Beach historical band “Pocket Lent”, featuring such exclusive members as Grammy award winning keyboard player Ikye Owens (Mars Volta), Drum giant Gil Sharone (Dillinger Escape Plan, Puscifer w/ Maynard from Tool), trumpeter Todd Simon (Macy Grey, Madlib), Grammy award winning drummer Andy Mendoza (Ozomatli) and Tim Wu (Long Beach Dub All Stars). Mike has toured the world as a bass player along side and with artists Cypress Hill, DJ Quick, Black Eyed Peas, Pennywise, 311, Charlie Hunter and many many more. Gracing stages at some of the largest festivals like Smoke Out, Warp Tour, Napster tour and others giving him the experience and know how of a musical legend.

We know a lot of you are wondering how Long Beach Records is connected to Skunk Records- so here it is short and sweet: As the success of Sublime and Skunk took off, Miguel was finding less time to devote to the punk rock bands still under the Skunk label. In order to get them the recognition they so deserved, he found a way to showcase them on a little brother label.

About 7 years ago Miguel (Skunk) and Mudd (Corn Doggy Dog) got together and came up with a label to release the now historic Long Beach Blvd. A compilation CD to showcase the side projects of Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson.(Juice Bros), while attracting new fans for Corn Doggy Dog & the ½ Pound, Secret Hate, Das Klown and the Pivot Foots.

Today Long Beach Records is still the home for Skunk’s punk rock bands and continues to add to the family while staying true to the roots of Long Beach. That is why Long Beach Records carries the Skunk logo protected by the independent safety of the Long Beach Records buoy. And what exactly is it the European division of Long Beach Records? Here it is in fine:

Actually, it was a spontaneous idea of Mudd and Gernot (Mongrel) to conquer the European market starting off with Shortbus’s (featuring Ex-Sublime members) release Flying Ship of Fantasy. Another compliation in our heads, we collected some of the finest European bands we considered rocking, flavouring it with some of the best Long Beach has to offer. That was when the first LBRE release came out in April 2006. By now Long Beach Records Europe operates individually, although the bonds to Long Beach Records are still as close as they used to be in the beginning. We work with artists and bands that are to be located in the genres of punk-rock, ska and reggae/dub keeping the spirit and vibes of Skunk Records and Sublime alive.
