Daphne Oltheten started violin lessons when she was three years old, at the local music school. At the age of five, she was selected for the class of the renowned teacher Coosje Wijzenbeek, and soon began to have chamber music lessons as well. She had the chance to play with many great musicians, including Paolo Giacometti and Janine Jansen, and won the third prize at the Interprovincial  Music Competition. In 2002 Daphne was admitted to the Young Talent class of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. After more than a decade studying with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Daphne then studied for three years with Mireille van der Wart. During that period  she won a third prize at the Princess Christina Competition and a masterclass with Vera Beths at the Davina van Wely Competition. Throughout her studies, Daphne has participated in various summer schools including Austrian Masterclasses (Salzburg, Austria), Stringtime Niederrhein (Goch, Germany), Internationale Stichting Masterclass (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) and Peter de Grote Festival (Groningen, The Netherlands). Also she took part for over 10 years in the Apollo Zomeracademie (Dronten, The Netherlands), where she received her first early music lessons from David Rabinovich.  In 2011 and  2012 was Daphne a participant of Festival Campos do Jordao, Brasil. After finishing her Bachelor in modern violin with Theodora Geraets, Daphne studied baroque violin with Walter Reiter at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and will now be studying early music with Christine Busch at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Also is she a member of the European Union Baroque Orchestra 2013.
