You might describe Cormac as a late bloomer. Or he might describe himself that way. Though he's been in the dance music game for a long time—a regular at Trash and Nag Nag Nag, and a resident and booker at the old Sunday WetYourSelf! parties at fabric—it's only more recently that he's come into a sound that he can call his own, something that connects more clearly with who he is. (These days, you're more likely to find him closing Panorama Bar.)

That sound is rooted in the queer history so important to him. You could call his <i>RA</i> Podcast hi-NRG, to be general. It's that vibrant, pounding, melodic and synthetic sound that came out of the post-disco early '80s, combining the flair of disco with the strut of Italo. There's new and old here, because Cormac is a champion of evolving iterations of the genre. Over this two and a half hours, you'll hear Patrick Cowley and Madonna, but also a whole lot of other, less obvious stuff too. We could go on, but Cormac explains himself pretty eloquently in the interview below. Two hot tips: watch out for his label, Polari Records, and his upcoming Queerly Beloved podcast series, where he talks to queer artists about their relationships with music.

‘Italorator is definitely one of my favorite shows right now. It’s a great honour to record this mix with some of what I consider classics, whether they are older or newer productions. 

I love classics, and it’s rare to find a space where you feel 100% comfortable to dive in and present your favorites from that time. There’s always a hidden gem here and there, and for me, Italorator is the new atlas for discovering them. Many thanks to Marsman and Operator for creating this space, which is so necessary to keep the movement alive and to give us the opportunity to share and learn with every new show. 

I dedicate this mix to my mom - she always loved new wave, Italo, and classic ‘80s songs. I remember when I was little, she would always put on those video cassette/DVD compilations, and I was hypnotized watching all the beautiful (and dramatic) video clips, always wanting to go back in time to live that era. I guess she has no idea how much influence this had on what I do. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it.’

Peace presents his new debut EP for Talking Machine after joining the label crew in 2024 titled Floor Number.8. The EP consists of 3 tracks that are accompanied by 2 remixes by well-known producers/DJs A-Tweed and Alvaro Cabana. The EP is composed with big 80s drum sound, carefully selected fills and heavy synth work which has been his signature sound.

The EP starts with Quiet Fight, a slow but heavy number that is said to be inspired by a movie which represented by the cinematic nature of the track. Starting with big toms and an acidic bassline, followed by a big snare and a majestic synthetic guitar line makes a dark, lush psychedelic trip. Next up, the title track of the EP, Floor Number 8 is an EBM-influenced, mid-tempo number that features a line from a movie placed in a perfect manner and timing, followed by intense percussion work and hypnotic synths. While the closer, Dream Fantasy is an indie dance track that features a punk-driven bassline, trashy snare and high-resonance synth that takes you on a euphoric trip. This time, A-Tweed, an Italian DJ/Producer based in Rome, participates and has had several releases with communities and labels such as Multi Culti, Hard Fist, Fauna Rave, and Playground Records. A-Tweed played in important clubs/parties such as Globus/Tresor (Berlin), Le Sucre (Lyon), Buka (Milan), NUR (Prague), Minimal Mondays (Vilnius), and many more. For this release,
he created a remix of the track "Quiet Fight." His remix features weird beats with a blend of acid, a hallmark of his signature style. He adds a steady, groovy bass line paired with his signature kick to represent his unique sound. Some metal-inspired fills and quirky effects, by creating deeply synthetic sounds weaving through the back of your ear trail, offering both hypnotic feelings and tickling.

For the track "Dream Fantasy," we invited Alvaro Cabana, a patriotic electronic legend, withnearly 30 years in the game, shaping sounds in his hometown of Madrid. A founder of Rotten City Records. He has had many releases with labels such as Ombra International, Duro, Roam Recordings, and Kaputt.wav. He also actively runs his music program, Rotten City Basement, with guests such as Curses, DC Salas, and Colossio.

This remix embodies Cabana’s signature intricate sound design, featuring a heavy bass line that blends perfectly with the punchy kick, to convey a sense of energetic mood. Finely balanced with a psychedelic house touch, focusing on the peak-time club feels. A solid track to build the energy to its limit.

This was a fun one. 

It was a magical night at Disco Knights. After all the hard work everyone put in building Disco Knights it was especially special to share this set with so much of my DK family. I am always happy to cast spells with you lot.

Nothing beats playing on that rig. I built this set around things i wanted to play very loud in the Desert and that would push our sound system. Big thanks to Christopher Charles for the engineering and letting me do just that and the sweet ass Mastering job he did on this mix.

Shout out to Jimmy V for setting me up so nicely with that first Jacking House tune. I hit it hard with some acid disco and never looked back.
