'We Stay Together' is a brand new doublepack from Andy Stott, a companion piece of sorts to the radical inversions of the 'Passed Me By' EP released earlier this year. Its predecessor left many heads dazed upon impact - in the best possible sense - and these six tracks, produced in its wake, amp the pressure to throttling degrees. Entering the digital compression chamber of 'Submission' you become a willing participant, before the lights are cut and you're forced to adjust to the humid atmosphere and bruising, muscle-contracting darkroom throb of 'Posers'. Suitably initiated, the EP's fearless centrepiece 'Bad Wires' plunges into full on mud-party mode, dropping the tempo while intensifying the kinaesthetic funk with slow, clusterf*cked syncopation until you're drowning in synthesized oil and crushed-glass textures. Fully submerged by 'We Stay Together (Part One)' time becomes elasticated like worn VHS tape, calling to mind Jamal Moss and James Ferraro soundtracking a rave in a sodden, flooded sauna, before inescapably tumbling into the sheer black hole of 'Cherry Eye' and left to the slompy jack of 'Cracked'. Blatantly, we rate this record massively, and although it's not for everyone, those looking for a more visceral, intense form of dancefloor pressure would do very well to check in

I’ve only discovered Kryshe a few months ago when I stumbled upon his Insights album, released on Unperceived Records. The record was a surprising delight, leaving me slightly bewildered as to the origin of Christian Grothe‘s music. I immediately fell in love with Grothe’s intricately detailed passages and recommended the album to all the fans of modern classical and cinematic works alike. So it was even a bigger astonishment (but, of course, justified in its own terms) that I received the news on Kryshe’s yet another upcoming release, this time on the beloved Serein, where it undoubtedly belongs. Today, Headphone Commute is premiering a title track off of this album, titled March Of The Mysterious.

TRESPASSING is a collaboration between Mikael Karlsson and the duo Siri Karlsson (Cecilia Österholm and Maria Arnqvist). The piece is a full evening visual concert which premieres May 17, 18 and 19 at Orionteatern in Stockholm Sweden.

Vad händer när vi hänger oss åt dans i djupa skogen en mörk sensommarnatt? Möter vi den romantiska folkloristiskt skimrande skogen eller ett skrämmande mörker fullt av rörliga skuggor och svärmande insekter? Har skogens själ lämnat människan? Har vi tappat kontakten med naturen?

Kompositören Mikael Karlsson och duon Siri Karlsson har tillsammans skapat Trespassing, en scenisk konsert inspirerad av ett skogsrave. En värld av prismatiska rytmer, råa syntar, jordiga improvisationer, jubelkörer, barocka figurer, nattflyn och vingfärder. Övernaturliga fenomen som bara inträffar i månens sken. Lusten att bara dansa, dansa, dansa, skrika, sjunga…

En scenisk konsertupplevelse som av instinkt styr oss rakt in i mörkret, ner under vatten och skenar iväg längs gnistrande tidsaxlar.

Mikael Karlsson är kompositör, bosatt i Harlem, New York. Han har i samarbete med koreografen Alexander Ekman komponerat musik till baletterna A Swan Lake och Midsommarnattsdröm som sattes upp på Oslooperan och Kungliga Operan i Stockholm. Han gjorde tillsammans med Anna von Hausswolff musiken till Nobelbanketten 2018. Mikael Karlsson har förutom klassiska uppsättningar också gjort musik till film och TV samt samarbetat med artister som Lykke Li, Anna von Hausswolff, Mariam Wallentin, Andreas Kleerup och Alicia Keys. År 2015 prisades han av American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Siri Karlsson är en prisbelönt duo som experimenterar med folkmusik, friform och psykedelia. Duon består av Maria Arnqvist på altsax, synthar och sång och Cecilia Österholm på tenornyckelharpa, synth och sång. 2018 skrev de beställningsverket Horror Vacui på uppdrag av Sveriges Radio. Det uruppfördes på p2 Art’s Birthday Party, Södra teatern. Deras musik har hörts i film och tv, de har spelat världen över, samarbetat med konstnärer som Eva Mág, Hong Kai Wai och andra artister och är ständigt sökande efter nya uttryck.

Berlin based composer and producer Ben Lukas Boysen has announced the release of his third album, the progressive and shape-shifting 'Mirage', on 1 May 2020. It follows 2013’s 'Gravity' and the acclaimed 2016 full length 'Spells', a record as much admired by his peers as it was loved by fans that not only yielded remixes from Max Cooper and Tim Hecker, but also opened Jon Hopkins’ Late Night Tales compilation.

Since the release of 'Spells', Ben collaborated with cellist and composer Sebastian Plano on the score for David OReilly’s landmark innovative video game 'Everything'. It was added to the long list for the Best Animated Short at the 90th Academy Awards, making it the first video game to qualify for an Oscar.

As with 'Gravity' and 'Spells', Ben has an array of musical guests adorning Mirage, including long time collaborator, Berlin based cellist and composer Anne Müller as well as Australian saxophonist and composer Daniel Thorne — for whom Ben wrote parts specifically, having heard his 2019 solo debut 'Lines of Sight'. Lead track 'Medela' features both and takes the listener on a kaleidoscopic journey that slides with ease across sonic terrains.

While on 'Spells' Ben made programmed pieces sound indistinguishable from human playing, with 'Mirage' he set out to do the opposite and make the human touch unrecognisable, creating something of a mystery or a mirage.

“A lot of the elements and instruments you hear on the album are either not what you think they are, or exactly what you think they are but behave differently or they’re elements you definitely know but they are hidden, processed, or morphed into something else.
