"I'm not where I want to be, but I'm not where I used to be"

Fresh from her Billboard USA number 1 Chart success with her single Smile, Top 10 Club chart records and starring roles in recent music videos, London resident and former Miss India UK finalist Sheila G is readying her new single Skin On Skin. 
“Skin On Skin is about two people who want to re connect, remembering a bond they once had” explains Sheila.  “Life has gotten hectic for them both and the there's a craving to get that connection and chemistry back to how it once was. It's the closeness these two people want again.”
Written with UK production royalty Si Hulbert (One Direction, Ed Sheeran), Danny Harrison (187 Lockdown) and Belle Humble (Freestylers, Cutline, Zomboy), Skin On Skin is an electronic Pop earworm that is supported with a video featuring world champion dancers from South Africa. 
“As a writing team we have a great connection and everyone is able to add something fantastic to the songs.  I'm loving the way my music is sounding at the moment, fusing my African and Indian roots with strong rhythm, harmonics and originality.”

Sheila grew up in Tanzania and was immersed in many cultures and languages from an early age, listening to music from all corners of the globe.  

“African life meant that a lot of time was spent outdoors and that's where my imagination developed...I had a pet monkey and 12 dogs, and was also chased by a snake in my garden!”

Sheila came to the UK at 11, and started entering dance and talent shows before heading to London at 16.  She subsequently moved to Paris and Germany before coming back to focus on her musical career.

“I'm passionate about fulfilling my goals because I believe that every moment is precious and should not be wasted; use your god-given talents. 'Whatever the mind conceives and believes, It can achieve' (Napoleon Hill) is something I fully believe in.”

Musically her inspirations cover both Pop and Urban bases, with Ciara, Ne-Yo, and the diva’s diva herself Mariah Carey all holding a special place for Sheila.

“I’ve always loved Ciara’s vocals and her soulful delivery, Ne-Yo’s tone and songwriting, and Mariah?  Well, she is Mariah isn’t she?  Nuff said!  I also love the Soca King Machel who just uplifts everyone through his music, something that is very important to me especially in these times of upheaval.”

Sheila G – Skin On Skin – which also features remixes by multi-award winning DJ Rafik, upcoming South African producer Tyron Woods, and Sweden’s Electronic producer extraordinaire DJ First Gift, is released February 17th on Umoya Records through INgrooves.
