“Tome of Stars” is a 100 sonnet journey, equal parts art, therapy journal, and exorcism, both a celebration and an elegy, a single narrative arc tracing the birth and death of a relationship. The final section of “Tome of Stars”, “Scripture”, leaves narrative behind to consecrate the poet’s enduring, unrequited love as sacred text. Comprising nine sonnets, it transforms the terminal condition of quixotosis (a delusional devotion stripped of belief in reciprocity) into liturgy, adopting the voice and cadence of timeless religious writing.

Adapted largely from an earlier prose work written from the perspective of a devotee of the Stargirl, these poems elevate her from mortal beloved to astral deity, blending hymn, confession, and myth in a tradition of sanctifying suffering and idealizing beauty. “Scripture” offers no reconstruction, resurrection, or resolution, only the permanence of ritualized longing: words repeated, a mantra, because they are all that remain.

“Uni Verse” functions as a self-aware, wry, and emotionally sincere coda to “Tome of Stars”. It steps outside the bounds of the book’s internal narrative and directly addresses the act of writing, the nature of the collection, and the reader. The poem oscillates between love for its subject and reflection on its own artifice, openly acknowledging the impossibility of closure in the face of ceaseless longing. Through this, it transforms the private cosmology of love and grief into a self-contained literary artifact. The tone blends affection and exhaustion, reverence and realism, ending the collection with the acceptance that no expression, however expansive, can fully contain the beloved or the pain of her loss.

So here I close this heartfelt tome of stars
With arbitrary finish, content shorn.
Of course, I hardly know which bless or mar;
A father’s love is blind for his dear born.

I drew this starshine from a cosmic well, 
Whose depth is prolonged by infinity.
Uncounted are dimensions time can’t quell,
Whose corners cache both woe and ecstasy.

Her hair, her eyes, her smell and thoughts and heart—
Melodic laugh a loss that’s marred my mind.
Her lightsome, skybound form and sublime art—
A finite poet’s dust before it’s mined.
