NYC DJs Esquire and Tim Martell, the modern day Riggs and Murtaugh, have paired  up to bring forward their musical "Lethal Weapon”…RaRiTiEs!!  RaRiTiEs is an annual mixtape montage of songs from the 80’s that were either not released as singles or fell just under the radar as timeless hits. The inspiration behind the hybrid duo’s mix came to DJ Tim Martell by way of DJ Esquire’s online radio show, The Crossover, where he plays all genres of music. After hearing one of his 80s’ sets they started comparing their collections and the idea hit  Martell, “I thought because we both have such a specific ear, that we should collaborate and do something with the tracks that we pulled.” DJ Esquire explains, “This mixtape was inevitable, we have been battling back and forth that one has more track or knows more 80’s songs than other for a while!…People should expect to be  taken on a great ride back to a time when music was fun when they listen.”

With an eclectic variety of projects to date, R7 has made quite a recognizable impact in electronic music. There are few genres the songwriting/vocalist duo have yet to attack with their production and remix work, sometimes pulling in outside vocalists to keep the sound fresh and experimenting with new ideas for cross genre platforms. An eccentric blend of elements combine in their original works for an unmistakable style. Their preference for big chords and melodic elements drive their belief in the power of songwriting to convey emotion as opposed to simply creating a beat.

Having established a worldwide following with releases in the US, Sweden, U.K. and Brazil, R7 are based in Austin, TX, USA. “Make Me Feel” was featured on the soundtrack for “MAY in the SUMMER,” the premier film at Sundance Film Festival 2013.  With International support from top names in electronic music, the duo continue to surprise listeners with their original ideas and forward thinking sound.
