Favorite Tracks - September 2018

Heartik makes his debut kick on Agile with an excellent EP plus a great remix by the label boss Uto Karem. &#8216;Sailors&#8217; kicks of the EP and is purely devastating, starting with solid beats that lead into a nice break where the main riffs taking control. Next is the remix by Uto Karem and this one is peak time stuff. The main riff joining looped melodic tones and funky overtones that come later makes this, big room track here. Closing this EP is &#8216;Neck Lock&#8217;, gritty basslines build the track nicely towards to some funky melodies and riffs. A perfect release from Agile that shows they still know what it takes to pick out big tunes and a great way from Heartik to introduce himself to the label&#8217;s fans.

The Original mix World Cup from Kiko was released on 1998. It is one of the 10 favorite Techno tracks from Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills and still is considered a techno anthem. 15 years later we felt the obligation of making an EP full of remixes including a revisited 2013 version from Kiko. We have managed to put together three of the best world&#8217;s techno artists so they could do their interpretation of this Love Parade&#8217;s hymn. The 2013 version from Kiko still contains that 90&#8217;s touch but refreshed with an actual sound. The remix from Jerome Sydenham is using an old school bass kick making it look like from the last decade. On the other hand, we have two very up-to-date remixes from Hollen and Uto Karem. These are four different ways to interpret a track from 1998. 
We are back in the past!

RETROSPECTIVE vol. 6 features tracks by Uto Karem, Kalden Bess, and Simone Tavazzi.

Track Description: 

Raw Motion (Uto Karem) true to its title, is a piece revolving around motion. The progressive transition from a simple beat to adding bass, high hat, rattles, and other sounds gives the impression of not just movement, but changing momentum although the pace remains relatively consistent. This song would be ideal for not just remixing but as the base for a strong mash up. 

Power (Kalden Bess) is true to its title; this powerful song starts off with a throbbing bassline that is run through a synthesizer with a saw. The produced sound is similar to a harmonica, giving the nostalgia of the Blues. As the intro merges into the body of the piece, the intense drum track joins with vocals that serve as instruments. This versatile track will leave a tremendous impact on anyone who listens to it. It would be a perfect anthem for any large festival as well as club. Additionally, this would greatly appeal to filmmakers for action and speculative soundtracks. Videogame companies will be intrigued as well.

Keep (Simone Tavazzi) begins with a low bass drum thats soon joined with a synthesizer and high hat. The track is brought through a remixer and feels very circular as it builds up. A fusion of experimental noises complements a deep, echoing male vocal track. This haunting piece would appeal to a broad spectrum. It would be a great opener for any DJs set, mellow enough to set the mood while the increasing intensity draws the listener in, preparing them for a great night out.

Label boss Uto Karem teams up with the legendary Eddie Amador once again and deliver &#8220;The Solution&#8221;, where all the elements we have come to expect from such a collaboration are here. The infectious bassline fuels the affair while familiar, housey stabs add character and class. Haunting vocals are in the spotlight once again, taking us for a nocturnal ride while menacing pads add extra suspense together with subtle audio manipulation and shuffling snare edits.

Loose Records and internationally-acclaimed artist Uto Karem and Mladen Tomic join forces for “Analog,” a collection of three new tracks that bear witness to veterans who only continues to expand their prowess and global following. Analog - Throwing in some Christmas-esque bells to stir up the pot at the intro, the twists on this track can’t be predicted or ignored as the mastery behind the decks shines into new depths of creativity. Classic warbling techno play enters the scene soon after, and it’s all listeners can do to hold on and see where this song will go next.
Mountain - Epic echoes and a resounding tech-heavy rhythm open like a cavern around the beat here, making for a hypnotic style that begs to be replayed again and again. Backed up by vocals blending a subtle mysteriousness and sex appeal, there’s more than plenty to love on this track for anyone.
Grey and White - Keeping the minimalist game high, an eerie spirit permeates this track like a ghost in the best house party imaginable. Frenzied drums, heart-thumping clap effects, and synths on steroids all get plenty of action here, delivering a beast of a song tech heads and festival goers alike can celebrate.

Uto Karem, Mladen Tomic - Analog - Loose Records

Here Uto Karem returns to Plus 8 for his second release on the label, with the two tracks he serves up - “Take Control“ and “All Over You” - continuing in the rising Italian star’s good run of form.

“All Over You” again features a crisp, almost dry production style as various percussive elements flesh out a 4/4 techno groove. Hidden within each bar are some wooden sounding hits and various melodic notes, all of which are heart-warming additions to a killer dancefloor groove.

Italian rising star Konrad (Italy) makes his solo debut on Phobiq with an outstanding release. 
Things get started with title track Expose and the result is nothing else than a pretty dark techno production. 
Next up is Base One which boasts with a crunchy rhythm section and distressed synthesis over a bass-heavy drive, which then leads us to Distraction coming down strong via the use of huge chords and mighty stabs. Closing up the EP with Control, Konrad pushes even further, with a hypnotic bassline and sneaky electronics interlaced throughout the clever arrangement.

Burrows is back! Following last year's hit "All Your Dreams", Gary returns to Respekt with a worthy successor in "Burning". Fusing his trademark rave influences with uncompromising drums and a DnB-inspired break, Burning is pure fire.
The remix comes from Dave Sinner, who dials back the tempo and cranks up the groove for a wicked, percussive re-think.
As if those two weren't enough, Gary also provides the relentless "Reaper One" and the shuffling acid of "Can't Hold Back" to complete the package.
