This is my tribute to the late great Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer who passed away August 10th ,2016.  It's my improvisation on his piece "Tarkus ".

Last Sunday we played our special arrangement of the Keith Emerson song "The Dreamer " , with Chris Baier playing gong & cymbals with a rubber mallet, Jeff Smith playing whale sounds on his guitar synth and myself playing a Yamaha grand piano. Twice, while I was playing piano ,  I almost started crying but took a deep breath and controlled the rush of emotion . From V.

A Beautiful One is With Me

I am playing this on a dark brown hand carved bamboo flute and on a digital piano.( I played the digital piano arrangement and then sequenced it so I could play the bamboo flute (G major scale tuned) along with it).The bamboo flute was hand carved by Eric the Flute maker  http://www.eriktheflutemaker.com/index.htm , who used to be at the Renaissance Fair in NY which is where I purchased it. He actually makes saxophones out of bamboo ! The hardest thing for me to do was play this song when I only had the notes of the G major scale to work with on the bamboo flute.  I plan to play along with a classical guitarist or with a classical guitar sound on my Korg Krome, which is closer the original instrument it was written for ( I guess it was for a Lute guitar )

Renaissance Ballad Played On A Bamboo Flute And Keyboard Called "Spanish Ballad" .

After spending 10 hours transcribing "Red" by King C. , I tried playing it on a piano. Some of the parts seem to work with a piano . I can also hear how out of tune the piano is becoming. My drummer says that he knows the piece so we'll try it with my electric keyboards. I wonder what sounds will work when I play it with the guitarist and bassist ...
