The Belfast based DJ & producer, Garry McCartney, otherwise known as EJECA, has been steadily and consistently building his sound and profile over time, through a series of impressive releases for Aus Music, Unknown To The Unknown, W&O Street Tracks, BPitch Control and Last Night On Earth, amongst others.  

‘The Crystal Maze’ EP is EJECA’s latest offering for Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two label, and comes backed with a rave rollicking Special Request remix.

EJECA carves out an energetic slab of audacious party house on ‘Unloving’, resplendent with rolling beats and stabby chords, and topped off with dramatic strings and vocal chops.  Paul Woolford dons his Special Request guise for the remix; skippy breakbeats, spinbacks, plenty of horns and a thunderous bottom end that is sure to devastate any speaker stack when this one drops!

Elsewhere on the EP, EJECA unleashes some 303 bassline action and dark vocals on ‘Standard Acid House Track’, which thankfully rises well above anything standard!  And on ‘Crystal Maze’, EJECA harks back to the darker dance energies that were a staple of the late 1980s UK acid house boom.  Wrapping up the EP, ‘ISWHATIS’ gets ever so slightly twisted with an orbiting synth hook and weighty stabs over a spirited rhythm section.

Huge material incoming from stalwart, Shall Not Fade, celebrating their three years in existence. If you've been following them from day dot, you'll realise how quick that has flown by - but time in the sonisphere moves fast - real fast. Wistfully looking back to their inaugural compilation followed by Mall Grab's SNF001, one thing to note is their ability to provide supreme quality in mass - two variables which don't usually marry up. 32ish records in three years, featuring artists such as Mall Grab, LK, Rick Wade, DJ Boring as well as contributing towards bringing through the likes of Adryiano, Trudge and Harrison BDP - it's no mean feat. 

Babble aside, we're lucky enough to be part of the anniversary celebrations along with you listeners. We're featuring OG, Mella Dee's 'Patchwerk' - who serves up a paper plate overspilling with retro-futurist basement garage cake for your enjoyment. Wash it down with a cup of LK's miscellaneous party punch - speak to the other guests as the effects start to wash over you. Was this regular 'retro-futurist basement garage' cake? - maybe it was the party punch? Murmurs rise that Skream and his entourage are arriving later on a herd of carousel horses. Who knows. must be the punch.
