CONCEPTUAL is the musical journey of Berlin based producer Simone Scardino, a sci fi techno specialist well seasoned with releases on the best scientific labels out there. His approach on techno comes apart from trends and superficiality, it always has an underlying message and it’s made with detail and intelligence.
 
This extended EP is not for the faint hearted, it requires some knowledge about intrincated soundscapes and requires attention and long term vision to capture the feeling properly. It can be completely beatless and atmospheric as the open title Ninna Nanna For Bad Children or super rhythmic like Me Medesimo where broken and bass heavy beats combine with elaborated textures exquisitely sound designed to cause the required damage on the dancefloor.
 
Højer is traversing similar terrain, but this time based on a 4/4 beat, rugged and distorted, metallic and industrial, a no mercy weapon for the darkest sound spaces.
 
On the B side, Not An Easy One gives another ration of proper non conventional dancefloor action, again with a well balanced combination of groove and texture.
 
 I Always Feel Like Somebody’s Watching Me closes the release changing the approach completely going hypnotic instead of muscular, with a complex drum work spiced with super-treated synth lines in constant change.
 
The sound of the future experienced today, made by a visionary.

As Token gears up for its 126th release, the time has come to invite a label favorite - Inigo Kennedy. 

The Englishman responsible for Token 1 readies us for three tracks of pure grain and warbling melodies packaged as ‘ The Calling ’ - a hypnotic yet stomping club record that highlights his unique production style full of character. Taking up the entirety of the A side, ‘ Magnitude Seven ’ pulses itself through the first part of the ep. Melodic yet dissonant as many of Kennedy ’ s best records, the track calls o n a stripped down acid line to support a saturated groove and noisy synthwork. Epic in construction, ‘ Magnitude Seven ’ comes in waves of unsettling intensity emphasized by a powerful double kick sequence. The B1 takes it up a notch as the title track appro priately named ‘ The Calling ’. A frantic four to the floor rhythm pushes along sustained notes, settling in a certain pressure. Harmonic sections breathe more life in an otherwise nail biting record that defines the Token sound accurately and Kennedy uses t his arrangement to distance himself from the classic loop based template used by most producers in his field today, confirming the ongoing relevance of a longstanding career in club music. Ending with a bit of a twist for most, longtime fans will be unsurprised by the choice to wrap things up with ‘ Out of the Woods ’ - a fitting electronica closer that departs from ‘ The Calling ’ with a focus on introspection. Drifting notes and a shuffled percussion line are reminiscent of his UK roots and fit perfectly as a n epilogue to his previous techno tracks. Ethereal as ever, Inigo Kennedy offers us another masterclass in out of the box production techniques in soulful electronic music.

Advance to Manipulation 009 - Uun

Uun's techno blends widescreen grayscale imagery with propulsive dancefloor pressure. Whether crafting what Hardwax dubs "straight ahead techno juggernauts" or deep, introspective tools, his work is grounded in a masterful command of atmosphere and texture. 

Uun developed his interest in fringe sounds as a guitarist and drummer in his hometown of Kansas City before shifting his attention to electronic music in 2012. This led him to relocate to Detroit, where he spent seven years pushing deeper into the underground techno scene, refining his production and performance methods. Between the Midwest and  several periods in Berlin—another city he's found a deep connection to—he's honed a style that's allowed his music to nimbly navigate between different subgenres, "quietly infiltrating" the genre from multiple angles at once. 

Uun's sound and his ability to mold it into a variety of forms has captured the attention of lauded techno labels like Mord, Semantica, and Soma. On his own Ego Death imprint, he pushes past genre confines and deeper into his music's underlying themes, exploring existentialism, duality, and the role of the artist in the modern era. His first full length, 2022's Derealization, interrogated dreams through rebuilding memories of liminal spaces, and on his latest Ego Death release, 2024's Platform Decay, he laces his tracks with a poignant criticism of social media-driven cultural homogenization while doubling down on his own uncompromising sound. 

As a live performer, Uun distills years of his studio practice into cathartic sets that build off his productions while pushing them into exploratory new territory. His live show has taken him to legendary clubs like Berlin's Tresor, Tbilisi's Khidi, Detroit's Movement Festival, and Brookyln's Basement, and alongside the decade-plus of releases under his belt, it's safe to say Uun's infiltration of techno might not be so quiet for much longer.
