Black Tie Elephant is a midwest post-rock duo combining lush string arrangements and scattered beats in richly textured soundscapes. Band members Brendan Finucane (cello) and Farsheed Hamidi-Toosi (drums, guitar) met as neighbors in Urbana, Illinois nearly a decade ago.  Combining traditional instrumentation with electronic innovation to create an instrumental narrative, their debut EP Dead Reckoning is a four-part story about a man lost at sea. Incorporating acoustic instruments amidst a constantly evolving backdrop of electronic loops and samples, their live performance embodies these choppy waters.
