To A Genius

In this offering by the Berlin-based and made in the Middle East label Disco Halal, we bring you something fresh from Tel Aviv. Following Naduve‘s releases on Rothmans and Cocktail d'Amore, it’s time for him to come back home. This release comes tastefully spread with Saturn Memories (Marius of Coma) special Tahini remix.
We shook hands with one of them. The handshake is thought by some to have originated as a gesture of peace by demonstrating that the hand holds no weapon. This ancient, short ritual took place several times, here, with some limited success. Does this ritual hold any meaning anymore? The race is long, far from being close to it’s end. It’s a race for a handshake.
This record is one of many efforts to make this race be heard. It may sound naive now, or even pathetic, but what are we to do? When cousins meet at family dinners they might fight each other for the chance to raise the cup “The Father’s name”. This battle is soaked with the music of their family, they know each other by its fabric. We wish to take them to the dance floor and play them music to shake hands to.

Well, this is different… Fourth Kind the self titled mini album on Omniverse Records. It’s hard to pinpoint a genre with records like this; produced by Marc Mac of 4hero and similar to some of the 4hero output, it defies genre and fits somewhere in-between many. The production is heavily reliant on synthesisers and vintage drum machines in places but is full of real life and organic movements, this is partly down to the signature drums played by Luke Parkhouse. The only other guest spot is filled by Nu Jazz Funker Pascal Strauss aka Luman Child who plays bass guitar on “Take Me To Your Sky” which along with “Afterglows” are the closest we get to dance tracks, in most parts a 70s fusion feel is present. The short interlude type tracks are just as important and I would go as far as to say vital to telling the story.  Moogs, Arps and Solina strings weave patterns throughout, all in all, across the 10 tracks the album is a journey of mood and emotions.  Limited Edition 180g Pressing. Released 17th September 2018.

nessuna modulazione cv, solo variazioni di parametri a mano, in tempo reale. lo scopo del test è esplorare la ricchezza sonora del magneto

ENG:
in this simple test i play a funk breakbeat loop from the orthogonal devices er-301. magneto ,in echo mode, is hooked to a mixer aux send. no cv modulation, just real time wiggling of many parameters.
this test focuses on the richness of sound of strymon's magneto
