Souls in Conflict begins with a sequence that evolves in its filters and a simple drums with a robust kick reaching the first break where mysterious voices with echoes come up and a new sequence appears on stage carrying a very ethereal melody.

As the second quarter of 2020 begins AMPISH returns to his Sidra imprint with a three track EP. The French/Egyptian artist continues to be one of electronic music’s most talented producers, where his fresh take on melodic house has earned support from the genre’s premiere tastemakers. With releases on Crossings, Bad Pony, Flora, Balkan Connection and Songspire highlighting his discography, AMPISH now returns to his comfortable home of Sidra with ‘The Uncertainty Principle’.

Having been a favorite of world class DJ Solomun for many months, it is the much in demand title track that leads the EP off. Anchored by a tight punchy groove, it’s rhythmic core comes up quickly, with layers of electric lines, ethereal shades and vibrant tones. Fragmented metallics then steal the air amidst waves of noise and percussive flurries, before a timely break pushes tension and anticipation higher into a groovy finale.

The EP’s midway point finds AMPISH exploring an esoteric narrative with ‘Riff’. It’s wonky lead is monumentally funky; perfectly sculpted and characterized by contemporary design. Buoyant and crisp, it provides the perfect narrative for waves of percussion, rippling grooves and pensive arps to elevate mood across the six minute journey.

Rounding out the release are the deeper vibes of ‘Nocturne’. Known for splitting time between creative spaces, AMPISH’s boundless creativity fuels this emotive gem. It’s punchy beats, perfectly contoured bass and arpeggiated waves unite for a tight rhythmic core, while feathered overlays advance the storyboard with poignant moments and a rare unpredictability. It caps off an inspired collection of music from AMPISH, furthering his place amongst the melodic house and techno elite. Highly recommended.

Onedotsixtwo continues to strike whilst the Progressive House iron is well and truly molten hot. Our 26th release bears the fruit of a magical meeting of minds, namely Australian favourite Matter & Sri Lanka’s Prince of Prog, Dimuth K, with their Road to Stanton Moor EP.

Matty and Dim deliver two absolute belters for this release. The lead track ‘Road to Stanton Moor’ is a deep and throbbing builder with tight percussion and eerie effects layers that float in and out of the track, as it rockets towards a momentous breakdown that’s guaranteed to send any dancefloor (or, right now, living room) sideways. 

The AA side ‘Exhale’ packs a progressive punch in equal measure, built around beautifully crafted synth lines and infectious melodies with some serious low end rigour for late night moments. Exhale made its debut at Woodstock 69 in 2019, grace à our old friend Hernan Cattaneo, and it’s been that elusive ‘ID-ID’ ever since, popping up in numerous sets from Hernan and Nick Warren since last summer.

We’re delighted to have Matty back on the label and welcome Dim with open arms … The pair have a really unique sound when their forces meet, and we wish them every success for this new chapter for them both.

Continuing the ancient alien themed track series, Morttagua brings ‘Alpha Draconian’ to Timeless Moment. 

Out of all of the extraterrestrial species that are believed to exist, none are as feared as the Alpha-Draconian. These interstellar reptilians are believed by many to be the true leaders of Earth. They are a devilish and technologically advanced reptilian civilization that acts by stripping the planets of their natural resources and by enslaving the indigenous populations. They were said to control the mineral resources of planet through heavy mining, many hundred thousand year ago, way before ‘The Anunnaki’ arrived and gained rule over the world.  

Morttagua made the ‘Alpha Draconian’ track as a more obscure brother of his latest single ‘Anunnaki’.  Both similar in structure, ‘Alpha Draconian’ brings darker synths, heavier obscure elements and a more hypnotic driven melody, with its unlighted feeling more centric towards night time underground dance floors.  This way through music and his sound design, Morttagua is able to represent the more evil nature of the Alpha Draconian species versus the Anunnaki.

Label boss Di Rugerio returns with a couple of tracks from Melodic Techno to create the EP named Acquario inspired by his zodiac sign. Acquario is a track that can manifest the personality of people under this sign: original, intellectual, creative and independent but at the same time unpredictable, unstable with a tendency to always contradict almost everyone, that is why this track includes all those elements in an aggressive bass line with creative melodies and arpeggios and original atmospheres. Eye Of God perseveres the energy of the previous track with a powerful structure in the bass line and in the drums accompanied by a main melody that takes you out of reality and tries to introduce you to the famous constellation nebula of Aquarius with sounds.
