Whist at the time of writing, the format of this years Amsterdam Dance Event is still being decided, one thing is certain, the music and spirt of the festival is stronger than ever!
 
ADE connects a global electronic music community which is reflected this in our 2021 sampler, bringing together homegrown Dutch talent alongside artists from Europe, South America, and The Middle East.
 
The full melodic spectrum is represented, from deep progressive beats and emotional vocals to the tougher kicks and astral synths found at the darker end of melodic techno. 
 
7 new artists join the sequence family as part of the sampler, and we welcome back Zieze for his second outing on the label.

Dany Dz - Beyond Words (Yudi Watanabe Remix) [Future Avenue]

Back at Uxoa Dutxa Elite the Zurck-X duo presents an original production entitled Live Form with remixes by Di Rugerio and Gabriel Castillo.

Live Form is a sublime track beginning in a progressive way with a simple drums while a sequence guides us to the main theme where a powerful bass joins in the background creating an impressive melodic piece, colorful and full of life.

Di Rugerio made the first remix starting with a simple base in the same way on the drums with shiny shakers keeping the original sequence in the background and adding new rhythmic elements in the bassline making it more danceable and reinforcing the melodies with a mighty Moog Sub 37.

Finally, Gabriel Castillo reinterprets in the same spectacular way, keeping the main melodies and giving it a mystical touch with organic sounds in the background where they can be better appreciated in the break, managing the rhythm very well.

'Past Midnight' is a contemporary interpretation of retro dance music delivered by Atlanta-based Mister Sweatband through three original tracks. The EP features three distinct club tracks that give hope of never-ending nights dancing in a sweaty room, delivered through rolling basslines, memorable arpeggios, and long pads.

The release is opened by 'Past Midnight' and closed by an alternative version of the track, a Midnight Mix filled with hope and emotion. The Main Mix arrives as a happy definition of Indie Dance: a beautiful visit to the past with the eyes set on the future.

'You' comes up as a clubbier track while giving a remarkable soundtrack feeling, perfectly binding danceability with an old-school happy mood.

Although the name of the last original track could lead to thoughts of a closed sound, 'Locker Room' is the opposite, an ode to Mister Sweatband's retro aesthetics delivered through an outstanding opening of synths and pads, which are more than enough to confirm his capacity as a storyteller.

Tash and Starkato return to Movement Recordings with a follow-up to 2019's well-received 'Sqr'. Greek artist and Movement Recordings boss Tash has had a prolific year thus far. Releases via Lowbit Records, Mango Alley, Just Movement and UV Noir have all been standouts as he continues to tread the waters between progressive and melodic house and techno. Similarly, Barcelona resident Starkato has had a strong campaign across 2021, highlighted by releases via Alpha Black, DIT KLINGT JUT, Mango Alley and Movement's new Limited division. Now uniting once again, Tash and Starkato present their much anticipated 'Identity/Tricks' double a-side EP, alongside remixes from D-Nox and Beckers and Paul Angelo and Don Argento.

Getting the release underway with 'Identity' it is Tash and Starkato's masterstroke to collaborate and introduce the sublime vocals of Nat. However, it's an intro of punchy beats, detailed percussion and emerging atmospheres that set the stage for a wavy groove, astral synth stylings and fierce effects. Building tension across the first act, its dramatic nature comes to full fruition during the main break, as Nat's vocal wails steal the air, resonating against a backdrop of warm bass swells and granular sonics; eventually melting down to a sequence of bass stabs as the emotive groove drops for a dramatic conclusion. The companion piece 'Tricks' sits as a worthy complement with prophetic leanings and square aim at the dance floor. It's warm, pulsating groove is perfectly carved, flanked with panning acid lines, elastic-like chord changes and glowing pads. From ominous beginnings comes a hopeful centrepiece, one where reflective themes rise to prominence, creating memorable moments as looping vocal pads cue a powerful drop and driving finale.
