For the 8th Drone Day, on the 29th May 2021, Transience invited a couple of past guests, Ligovskoï and Valentino Mora, and close comrade and drone aficionado, Paul Josef, to share the joy of droning. Transience host, Lou Drago, and guests Valentino Mora and Paul Josef all took the opportunity to play their first live sets on this occasion. The guests were already familiar with Transience’s aim of offering relief from neoliberal anxieties, and this desire is reflected in their musical outputs – on this night and in general. We hope you enjoy the journey through the four soundscapes and the story they collectively weave. The sets have been uploaded individually, but in the order they were presented on the night. We highly recommend listening on headphones or good speakers from a horizontal-ish position.

mlin's note:

thoughts of my favorite artists, whose compositions became for me the harvest of the beginning autumn. Each track is a canvas with the poetry of sounds. I hope each listener will find a string for himself.

mlin patz (@mlinpatz) was started in 2015, when she found how to collect and serve her field recordings with some electronic rhythms and rhymes. The attempt to synthesize it was released in first EP - on Система label (https://systemnapotvora.bandcamp.com/album/mlin-patz-tvrk-ep). Later she found some way in dub direction to introduce her vision of her in soundscape. She release another EP - "Sunlimit '' - on Muscut label (@muscut)(https://muscut.bandcamp.com/album/sunlimit) where the guitar plays an important role. In the same time she is playing on guitar for Chillera band. Currently, she's spending a lot of time with the girls from the band working on his new EP.

Ethno Service, a moniker for two electronic musicians based in Prague, are here with their debut long-player ‘NMA’. Released via LBD Sounds tape series, it comprises six masterfully crafted original compositions and a couple of remixes, including an uneasy jungle rework by Exhausted Modern’s new alias Oblaka and a spaced-out ambient escapism remix by voodoo priestess Lucie aka Avsluta. It’s not an easy listening affair, broken and sometimes unnerving rhythms blended with duo’s uniquely moody atmosphere, ever morphing and taking you places you didn’t even know existed. Expect percussion-heavy tracks on a lower side of bpm spectrum. You may dive into this album horizontally, or try to find out if it’s still danceable. Is it? Sure it is!

Melbourne duo @HTRK (Nigel Yang & Jonnine Standish) have a well-storied history reaching back nearly two decades. From a back-catalogue comprising of significant releases on imprints like @Ghostly International, Mistletone and Boomkat Editions, collaborations with luminaries such as Mika Vainio, Rowland S. Howard & @benfrost, and appearances at numerous key events around the globe (including the legendary @berlinatonal festival, Krakow's @unsound and Vivid at the Sydney Opera House), their impact on a vast array of listeners and scenes is indelible and difficult to overstate.

As a two-piece band, their melancholic, sensual music lies roughly at the intersection of post-punk, no-wave, shoegaze and art-rock, with influences from IDM, industrial, noise, dub-techno, pop and beyond. Indeed, it is this eclectic palette, combined with deep knowledge and curiosity that has recently seen them contribute a captivating ambient score for Jeffrey Peixoto's documentary "Over the Rainbow" and regularly deliver genre-defying mixes on platforms like @secretthirteen and NTS.

A starting theme and departure point for HTRK's Patterns of Perception 74 is the ocean. This intricately assembled collection of music finds a natural ebb and flow amongst rich, organic synths and delicate abstract melodies. Building from a slow and introspective beginning, the duo intuitively and carefully guide the narrative to also incorporate gentle energy and a sense of strangeness. 
Viewed holistically, this mix is invigorating and luxuriously diverse, with a true chameleonic quality that allows the listener to take something different from every listen.
